The Wrong One (Destiel)

Chapter 12

DEAN'S POV

There's a knock on the door which causes Cas and I to jump apart, "Cassie the kitchen is all wet!" We quickly get dressed and open the door. Claire is standing with a pile of towels in her little hands, "I got these!" She smiles then leads us into the kitchen and we quickly soak up all the water. Cas takes Claire to get her dressed then we get in the car and head to the diner.

We walk in the door and are immediately greeted by Jo, "Hey Guys! Who's this little cutie?" She says bending over to pinch Claire's cheek earning a big smile from her.
"This is my niece Claire, Claire this is Jo" Cas says as Claire waves at Jo.
"I'm going to go find Ellen" I break away from the group and head to the back of the diner. I push through the doors to the kitchen and almost knock Ellen off her feet.
"Boy you better watch yourself in my diner" she says putting her hands on her hips glaring at me.
"Sorry ma'am I didn't see you there.."
She smiles at me opening her arms wide, "Oh you know I'm kidding, now give me a hug it's been ages since I've seen you!" I return Ellen's bright smile and hug her. We break apart and she holds me at arms length. Suddenly I'm getting smacked in the back of my head, "Boy your mother has been worried sick! She called me when you didn't go home last night!!"

I hit my own head as I remember my mom telling me not to stay out late. She's going to kill me when I finally do go home, "I'm sorry Ellen I completely forgot! I'll go right home when I leave but first I have to ask for a favor."
Her eyebrow perks up and she gives me a questioning look, "Go on."
I sigh, "My boyfrie- I mean friend lost family members recently and now he really needs a job to support the rest of his family. I was hoping you could maybe give him a job since you always talk about how busy you and Jo are around here especially when Ash isn't around."
She smiles, "Is this friend of yours the Castiel boy that Jo was telling me about?"
I blush only imagining the things Jo probably made up and told Ellen, "Yes it's the same guy..."
"He can be a bus boy for now, if he does well the I'll move him up. Tell him he starts next week."
I pick Ellen up in a giant bear hug "Thanks Ellen, you're the best!"
She laughs, hitting my chest, "I know I am boy, now put me down!" I set her back on her feet and she starts pushing me out the door, "Get out of my kitchen now, I've got customers to keep happy."

I walk back out and see Cas standing next to Jo who is kneeling beside Claire whispering in her ear. They both suddenly look at Cas, then me and break out laughing. I walk over curious as to what they're laughing at, "What's so funny ladies?"
Claire looks up at me with a huge grin on her face, "Jo says you and Cassie looooooove each other!" The way she drags out the word love causes both Cas and I to turn bright red. Jo whispers something else in Claire's ear. I cross my arms and look at Claire expecting her to tell me. She has a confused look on her face, "Jo says you two are butt bud-" she's cut off my Jo putting her hand over Claire's mouth.

"Claire I told you to wait to tell then that until you got home!" She starts laughing and pulls her hand away from Claire's mouth.
"What's a butt buddy?" Claire asks so I scoop her up in my arms putting distance between her and Jo.
"It's nothing you need to worry about...or say out loud." I glare at Jo who in turn starts laughing, then I turn to Cas, "time to go!"

"But shouldn't I talk to Ellen?" Cas asks as I start leading him out the door of the diner.
"Nope I took care of it, you start in a week!" Cas' eyes open wide with surprise then he engulfs me in a hug squishing Claire between us.
"Oh Dean thank you thank you thank you!" We break apart and Claire is glaring at both of us holding her broken arm, "Oh Claire I'm sorry did I hurt you?" Cas asks obviously worried that he's hurt her.

"No I'm fine but can we go home  I want a nap." I nod putting Claire in her seat then get in the drivers side.
I turn to Cas, "Would it be okay if we stopped at my place?"
Cas' body stiffens, "A-are you going to stay there?"
"No, but I should probably talk to my mom and get clothes if I'm going to stay with you." I smile as Cas sighs a breath of relief and nods. It's nice to know he wants to be around me but still upsetting that he's so afraid of being alone.
(Mini time skip because car rides are boring)
I pull into my drive way and get out of the car. I look up and see my mom stand in the doorway, hands on her hips, glaring. 'I should've called her' is the only thing going through my mind as I approach her.
