Jude met up with Connor at his locker after school, as Connor was gathering his text books into his bag.

"Hey, you ready?" Connor asked.

"Um, actually... I just wanted to tell you, I can't hang out today," Jude told him.

Connor sighed, "again? Jude you've bailed nearly every day this week."

"Sorry, it's just that T-"

"I get it, Jude." Connor shut his locker. "Let me guess, Taylor again?"

"Well, yeah but it's for a good reason," Jude insisted.

"Oh really? Enlighten me."

"I can't tell you. She told me not to." Jude shifted uncomfortably as Connor glared at him.

"Of course." Connor turned and began walking away, when Jude took two quick jogging steps to catch up.

"God, what's your problem? Taylor is my friend too, you know," he said.

"You keep blowing me off to hang with her instead. It kind of hurts my feelings," he mumbled.

Jude scoffed, "when have you ever cared about people 'hurting your feelings?'" He air quoted.

"You're supposed to be my best friend. Whenever we have plans, you bail the moment Taylor asks to hang out instead."

"God, it's like you're in love with me or something," Jude laughed humourlessly and turned on his heel to walk away.

"If only you knew..." Connor whispered.
