The drive to Las Vegas was short and smooth. We encountered very few zombies on the way. The drive took about 3 hours. Like all previous times, Howard left us to security tasks, while he indulged into his scientific work. In the next five days, we had to face a lot of zombies, since Las Vegas launch centre was not protected well enough, and so most of the security personnel were placed outside the building. In all, we killed about 300 zombies in those five days. There were about 40 security people with us this time.

Finally, the launch was initiated. However, something went wrong before the missile could takeoff. Some scientists said something the failure of combustion of nitrogen in the fuel tank due to poor oxidation area near the missile. We barely understood anything, so the scientist said that the fuel didn't burn right.

And so, the launch was delayed by 3 hours. Nicholas was slightly upset after hearing this news. It turns out that many scientists had met at the launch centre, and almost all of them would travel with us to the next two cities too. That was a good thing, since we were desperate for some company.

Finally, 3 and half hours after the scheduled time for the missile launch, the missile was launched. This time it went smoothly, and soon enough, there was the familiar BOOM of the missile hitting its target destination. Once again, right before our eyes, the zombies dropped dead automatically. However, something happened that we had seen for the first time: a survivor of the reversal.

None of the security personnel noticed anything unusual at first, but then they realized that one of the zombies was standing, while all the others had fallen. They were about to shoot him when Carter stopped them.

"Wait. Don't shoot him. He's living through the reversal. Watch carefully."

So, all of us looked on. We looked on as, slowly, the green colour drained from his face. At first, his eyes were rolled up in his head, then finally, they came down, and the dilation instantly reversed. Colour – red colour, human colour – rushed back to his face. He took a deep breath, as if checking if he was really living, then fainted. We took him inside to the scientists and told them about him.

"We must carry him with us. We might know some more things about the virus and the antidote from this person. He is very important for our research," one of the scientists said. All the scientists agreed.

And so, we took the guy with us. We tried to force some water down his throat, but he spat it out, as if he didn't like its taste.

"If he doesn't eat anything or drink anything, I don't think he'll live much longer," Angela said.

But soon, he regained consciousness.

"Wh-Where am I?" he said.

"I would have told you if I knew. All I know is that we're going to Stockton," Carter said.

"Who are you guys?"

"We can introduce later. First, you must eat and drink. I don't think you've had anything since a long time."

"Yeah...give me some water first; my throat is dry like a stick."

I drove on as he had something to eat and drink. He ate like a wolf, almost swallowing his food whole.

We reached Stockton in 6 hours. We got to know that this guy's name was Jim. When we asked about how it was like to be a zombie, he said he didn't remember anything. When we asked him about the reversal, he said it felt like waking up with a jolt, feeling like you had been choking in sleep.

Finally, we reached the Stockton launch centre.
