The launch centre was a small, compact building, and it turns out there were only fifty more people, which was a surprise, since I had honestly seen about a hundred people when I had entered. There were 30 scientists, most of whom were placed her by Nicholas, while there were 20 security people. Or rather 23, now that we'd come too.

The first three days at the launch centre were uninteresting. On the fourth day, excitement started to build. Zombies came more often, since there was a lot of noise due to the construction of a missile.

Finally, the last day started. There was a lot of bustling. Scientists were running about as if a zombie had entered the centre. Most of the security personnel had been placed at the entrance, since the scientists said the zombies would be attracted to the flying missile. However, the three of us were placed inside the control room, where we had to make sure that the scientists were safe, in case zombies entered the centre somehow.

There was a window and about a million tempting buttons in the control room. Whenever I even looked at a button, one or the other scientist would notice and say, "Don't even touch anything. You'll ruin everything otherwise."

Neither of us touched anything. Finally, the countdown began. We heard gunshots outside – both of the turrets and that of human-operated guns.

"Let's hope they can do enough to hold them off," Angela said.

Finally, the missile took off. A few moments later, the impact countdown started. There was even more firing outside. At last, the impact countdown ended. A loud BOOM was heard just as the impact countdown ended.

"Missile impact successful. Now releasing antidote."

Everyone cheered. All three of us went outside. The fight continued, however, in the background, a huge cloud of gas could be seen rising from the very centre of Phoenix.

"I wonder if the antidote may affect us, too. You know, the non-infected people," Angela said.

"I don't think it would, or they would have set the launch centre farther from the city."

Finally, the cloud of smoke reached the launch centre. Zombies growled and howled in pain. The virus was the life-force of most of the zombies, now that it was killed; most of the zombies dropped dead, the green colour draining from their face.

The scientists cheered even louder.

Phoenix had been cleansed.
