Chapter 18

I felt my blood rush cold

What was happening. This wasn't meant to happen!

~A little bit earlier~

The banquet hall fell silent as the ceremony started the priestess of the seushu family stood in front of the crowd my Uncle the leader of the mage tower beside her as I walked to the front The brown haired mage from before smiled.

"Lady Rossetti if you would please" the mage handed me a crystal glass jewel or it seemed like glass "this gem is made of a special type of mana  or a stone that we call mana detector as well as divine power if the jewel turns black you have mana if the jewel turns blue you have divine power." The mage explained

I looked at the jewel in my hand "it hasn't been activated yet if you don't have any mana nor divine power it will stay the same the jewel needs five minutes the least to work" the mage explained I looked at the jewel nervously.

'Please let me just be normal'  I thought  'normal like everyone else'

I felt a sudden pain in my chest

Like I was being stabbed I winced looking the jewel in panic

as the jewel turned a bright red

"what the-" uncle's bored expression turned shocked it got brighter and brighter the pain in my chest increasing making it hard to breath.

The gem cracked shattering in my hand to dust the pain in my chest hardened everything was getting dizzy.

I Coughed looking at my hands with wide eyes.

I felt my blood rush cold my head pounding my chest aching to the point it felt like being stabbed.

The red on my hand sending shivers down my spine.

Blood

I coughed out blood

Trying to take a deep breath but suddenly I couldn't breath I heard panicked voices an arm on my shoulder as everything went black.

Tia's pov

I stood near Dad watching the ceremony.

In my Past life I hadn't been able to attend since Dad hadn't been interested in attending and it hadn't really mattered but I still could remember it clearly, how everyone talked of that day as a bad day for Rossetti I hadn't understood back then I hadn't interacted with Rossetti enough to really know much about her.

She was a bright child seeing the best in most people and she was clearly loved so it didn't make sense what possibly happened on her eighth birthday to make her so sick to the point I didn't see her till she became and adult? There was something some piece of information I had forgotten what had it been?

I watched Rossetti take the gem with gentle hands as she looked at it nervously her face was obvious to read.

Rossetti suddenly winced as the gem turned a deep red before turning a brighter and brighter.

"What's happening?" Dad muttered as I looked up at him turning back instantly as there was a sudden commotion "Call a doctor!" The mage exclaimed Rossetti began coughing fiercely coughing blood a few gasps as one person rushed out to call the doctor.

The priestess who had been standing nearby began using divine magic to calm things down but it didn't seem to be working Aunt Shannet rushed to the front her husband not far behind.

The situation-

It suddenly hit me

That last piece of information I had forgotten. Why I hadn't seen Rossetti till she turned into and Adult and got married to the crown prince!

It turned out she had both

Mana and Divine power

which made her Ill it was to much for her body to take as Magic and divine power was known to never go together.

And not until her social Debute when she was twelve did anyone figure that out when she collapsed nearly dead.

Her eighth birthday was just the signs beginning to show her mana awakening while her divine power awakened later on but... There had never been a cure had there not until she turned into an adult but it still didn't do much.

The reason she died wasn't because of her mana but she had been poisoned by the first prince's lover who wanted her gone.

That sent me back to my first promise.

I'd prevent it I'd prevent the engagement I'll make Perez Emperor the first prince won't have a chance.

and the cure that should be easier since the cure was already among us!

But for now... I watched everyone panic at the chaos Dad ushered me out if the ball room.

For now I have to make sure the doctor doesn't prescribe her as terminally ill!
