Jimin was trying not to cry. What was crying going to get him, anyway? But when he looked over and saw his husband's red rimmed eyes and wet cheeks, Jimin let the dam burst. He sobbed into his best friend Taehyung's shoulder.
"This is the last time I'll see you for a bit, Min," Taehyung declared, voice thick with emotion and even deeper than normal as he swallowed down his sadness. "I'm glad you won't be alone."
"I'm sorry that you will be, though," Jimin choked out through his tears. Taehyung shook his head and waved a hand as if to say it didn't matter to him that he'd be alone.
They turned to see Jungkook hugging Namjoon. Despite the twinge of jealousy Jimin sometimes still felt knowing that Jungkook had been so in love with Namjoon when they were younger, he felt genuinely sad for his husband having to say goodbye to his idol and the big brother he admired most. He didn't miss the gulp of sorrow Jungkook swallowed down as he moved away from his hyung.
When they were finally alone in their car after saying goodbye to the last two members to join before them, Jungkook slid down in his seat and smashed his face against Jimin's chest.
"Tomorrow that's going to be us. I guess it really is time to go," he moaned dismally.
"I know, baby. At least we'll have each other though," Jimin tried to remain positive, but his forlorn tone and choked up voice betrayed him.
Jungkook glanced up from Jimin's chest. "We'll always have each other. I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Be rich and famous and sexy as hell, but be single and able to date any person on this planet you wanted," Jimin joked, somewhat exposing his insecurities, but too morose to care.
"Ah, but that's not true, because if I was single, the only person I'd want to date would be you," Jungkook replied earnestly.
Jimin swallowed back his tears and kissed Jungkook's cheek. "You'd have me in a heartbeat too. There's not a single version of reality where I wouldn't be yours, Jeon Jungkook."
Jungkook smiled fondly, but giggled a little before teasing, "Are you sure?"
