"So, you really have a twin that visits you in a subconscious place and shares your powers?" Ben huffed as he took another swing at the punching bag.
We were stationed in the school gym, mats spread out below to soften any falls and borrowed gear for working out laying about the place. Though I stayed focus on the windows near the top, where the setting sun shone through in orange waves.
"I guess? They like to be cryptic a lot of the time." I mumbled. "Also, why are we doing this again?"
"Because I can't rely on just the Omnitrix. I mean, it's great to have the it and all... but there might come a time when it's not enough. Got to expand my repertoire." He landed another punch as I snorted a laugh.
"Your repertoire?"
He began to move differently, lashing out kicks as well as punches and doing full swings with a smile. "Yeah! That's Savate, and this is karate!" He backed off, wiping at his brow while meeting my gaze. He puffed up despite the heavy breathing he had going on.
"I know Ben. I watched Gwen hand you it when she taught it to you."
Ben deflated just as quickly. "Could you at least let me have this?"
I hummed in thought, tapping at my chin as a smile curled my lips. "How about, no." I said, pushing the boxing bag and watching as it hit Ben square in the face. He stumbled back, hitting the ground. "Oh! Are you okay? I didn't mean to hit you that hard."
Instead of being upset, Ben sat up with a smile of his own. "No, no, you're good. A enemy won't throw their punches. But that does give me a good idea." He stood up, throwing his head forward. "Headbutt!"
"What, no!" I snorted a laugh as Ben went through with the motion. He stumbled back, smile wide as he puffed up again. "That is not the best way to fight. Especially when you outsmart the enemies more times than I can count."
"What can I say? I have to be well-rounded."
Kevin's voice cut across the gym, "Okay, fun's over. I just set up a meeting for Ben." He charged into the space, Gwen railing after him with her arms folded and a heavy frown.
"With who?" Ben asked as Kevin snatched his arm up and started to drag him towards the exit.
"It's important, come on."
"With who, Kevin?" I spat, stepping up and letting stars flare across my skin. I looked to Gwen when all he did is freeze in his spot. "With who?"
"Neither of you will like it." Gwen muttered. "I sure didn't when Kevin told me."
Kevin dropped Ben's arm with a huff, turning to face him and I but his eyes kept darting around. "Um...The Forever Knights."
"Are you crazy?" Ben and I exclaimed.
"Told you they wouldn't like it." Gwen muttered.
Kevin went on the defense, raising his arms and waving them about. "Hold it, hold it. They're in trouble and they need help."
"Why would we help them?" I rose a brow while folding my arms over my chest. "They aren't friends of ours, and last time I remember fighting them their king tried to take over the planet."
"Plus, the times they tried to dissect me?" Ben copied my stance.
"Right." Kevin began. "And that means they wouldn't be reaching out unless for good reason. Aren't you curious to find out what?"
Gwen slapped the back of Kevin's head, rounding him as he whined at the pain. Her green eyes focused on Ben and I, beyond angry. "He got paid to come here. Forced it out on the ride. He traded for some alien tech, some of which was just for his car." She shot Kevin another glare.
