For the past fifteen minutes, we'd been helping everyone escape.

No keys. No codes. Just raw determination.

Adventurers blasted open cell doors with their blasters and swords. Ashido melted keypads with her Polymorph acid, shorting out entire systems. Most prisoners—thankfully—could walk out with help. But the human children... they were the hardest to watch.

Some had mutated limbs. Others had alien features grafted onto their bodies. Seeing them stumble, confused and afraid, made my chest tighten.

I understood now why Todoroki was so determined to infiltrate the Rooters' base.

Three of my Slapback clones carried the injured kids to safety. One stayed behind, tearing open the last few cell bars. When the final cell emptied, only a handful of us remained: one Slapback, Uraraka, Ashido, Cadet Camie, and a few adventurers.

"Looks like that's all of them," Ashido said, exhaling deeply.

"Thank goodness," Uraraka added, hands on her knees.

"Alright! Way to go, everyone!" Camie cheered, pumping her fist. The room erupted in tired but joyful applause.

My clone joined in, bouncing with excitement—until Camie turned to her with a grin.

"And we couldn't have done it without you, Captain Deku."

"Oh, uh... I didn't do much," my clone said, waving both hands. "Just supported and all."

It was true. The adventurers were strong—some even alien themselves. I just lent about twelve extra hands. That's all.

"Meh, I still think you and your crew were very cool," Camie said, flashing a smile.

I scratched the back of my neck, lowering my head in embarrassment. That's when I felt two hands rest gently on my shoulders.

I looked up.

Uraraka and Ashido stood beside me, smiling proudly.

"I think you're really cool too, Deku," Uraraka said softly.

"Way past," Ashido added with a thumbs-up.

Even in my green metallic alien form, I felt tears prick at the corners of my eyes. But before they could fall, something clicked.

"Wait... Deku?" I asked.

"Oh! Um, sorry. Should I not call you that?" Uraraka said, cheeks flushing. "Your friends call you Captain Deku, even though your name's Midoriya. To me, it sounds cool. Like... 'never give up,' you know?"

My clone gasped, eyes wide. The Omnitrix on its forehead beeped red.

Three green light trails shot into the room—my other clones returning from their rescue runs. They merged into the Omnitrix, restoring my size and form.
