ZEE~~

(Next Day)

Carly and i spent every break from training and every bit of alone time talking to each other. I learned that she had been with these people for three years but because they had caught her too young for their policy age, she had to keep being reinstated into level one, until now. Once we pass their first test, she says, we get moved up to level two and forced to do harder, more advanced training and so on it goes until they're...ready for you, whatever that meant. Every teenager in here possessed some kind of power that Z-Tech wanted to develop and use to their benefit. Carly's consisted of element and inanimate manipulation; meaning she can melt metal, move objects, freeze water and more but her power could only be portrayed through emotion. "So, does that make you a mind seeker too?" I had asked her. She looked at me like i was insane and asked me what the hell a mind seeker was, so because i wasn't too knowledgeable about it myself, i explained my ability to her, my incidents and how it led to me being here and obviously about the handsome voice in my head.

"So he told you that's what you are, how does he even know you're one of them?" She asked me.

"I guess by what i can do, he knows. Plus he did contact me first remember."

"Right." She slowly nodded her head. She asked about the mind seekers' plan to rescue us before our levels moved up too high and lastly about the hallway. "How are we getting down there?" She whispered, looking around the changing room for any ease-droppers. I thought for a second and then looked at her. She blinked at me with curiosity. "I was thinking maybe you can use your power to get us out our rooms and shut the laser system down..." I suggested. Carly glared at me and i swallowed with discomfort.

"Brazil, don't you think if we could use our gifts we'd be out by now?" She had a point, one that i never actually considered, since i knew for a fact that i couldn't use mine. "You think these wrist bands are just labels?" She asked, holding her hand up.

"I don't get it...what are they then?"

"I felt it when they first put it on me. It extracts your power, stops you from using it whenever." She explained. She must've read the expression on my face when she said, "Maybe you didn't feel it because your power isn't active, you know, from not sleeping." I nodded in agreement to her. It was only then we noticed we were the last ones in the changing room and would probably be dragged out soon, so we grabbed our things and hurried out, bumping into one of the doctors. "What are you two doing in here still?" She asked us.

"Dr. Toria?" I said, realizing it was her.

"Good to see you're alright Brazil. You need to get to your room now, we just might be moving you all again." She said while ushering Carly and i out of the changing room. "What? why? can you please tell me?" I asked, hurrying behind her.

"There's people hunting us, vigilantes. They're trying to bring down our program and..." She stopped, turning around to face us. "Look, i can't say too much, otherwise you may not see me again...but you're in trouble, all of you."

"Can you just tell us what kind of trouble." Carly asked her, her face pleading.

"I cannot, but Brazil, you of all are being closely watched. Be very careful."

"Dr. Toria is there a problem with these two?" A man in a black suite and a microphone in his ear, looking like he was one of the men in black, said walking up to us.

"Oh no, they weren't directed out of the changing rooms so they got lost. I'm just taking them back to their rooms now." The man looked at us and then down at our wrists where we wore the extraction bands. I felt my palms get sweaty from nerves. He looked at Dr. Toria and nodded, before continuing down the hall. She turned around and continued leading us to the rooms section where the guards took over and led us to the doors that marked our numbers. I then realized that Carly was three doors down from me, on the opposite side. I gave Dr.Toria a quick look before being pushed into my room. Her face screamed worry and it only made me more nervous.
