Light tapping from Sam refrained Nova from falling asleep on one of the double beds the motel offered. Instead, she was forced to research like the brothers were about demons as well as demonic possession. Quietly, flipping through an old book she had kept from years ago about demons, Nova sat opposite Sam on the bed, leaning against the wooden headboard behind her.

To her right, on the second bed, Dean sat on the edge flipping through his dad's journal as Sam occupied the desk using his laptop to gain information. No one had said anything in a while, the three of them being too focused on researching to speak. Behind Sam, on the wall, the trio had gathered a series of pictures relating to demons and possession, sticking them up with tape to create a large 'mood-board', as Nova called it, across the wooden wall.

"So every religion and world culture has the concept of demons and possession, right," Sam spoke up, breaking the silence. "I mean, Christian, Native American, Hindu, you name it."

"Yeah, but none of them describe this," Dean stated, glancing up from the journal to his brother.

"Well, that's not exactly true. According to Japanese belief, certain demons are behind certain disasters, both natural and man-made. One causes earthquakes, another causes disease."

"And this one causes plane crashes?" In response Sam let out a sigh, not having an answer for Dean.

"One caused a bus crash," Nova commented, not looking up from her book.

"All right. So, what, we have a demon that's evolved with the times and found a way to ratchet up the body count?" Dean questioned, standing up from the bed towards the unorganised desk.

"Yeah," Sam replied in a low tone almost as if he was disappointed about something. "And, you know, who knows how many planes it's brought down before this one?"

Dean quietly laughed to himself, scratching the back of his head as he turned his back to Sam before moving around the space in the room.

"What?" Sam asked.

"I don't know, man. This isn't our normal gig. I mean, demons don't want anything, just death and destruction for its own sake. This is big. And I wish Dad were here."

"Yeah, me too."

"I mean, if you guys want, I can just do it. It wouldn't be the first demon I've dealt with." Nova suggested in a soft voice, placing her book in her lap as she switched from staring at one giant to the next.

"No!" In sync, both brothers mildly shouted, turning to look at the girl as if she had said the most awful thing. Dean raised a finger at her to emphasise their point, slightly scaring the girl.

Nova was saved from the intense stares and finger when Dean's phone began to ring in his pocket. While he fished it out to answer it, Nova closed her book she was half reading before crawling to the end of her bed, stopping when she was closer to Dean who had just placed his device to his ear.
