Popping into a bar while looking for a new case was not rare for the trio. As their job meant travelling around the country regularly, it was not like they could get jobs to support them financially. So, in between cases the three of them, mostly Dean and Nova, would find other ways to make an income. An easy way to make a large profit in a couple of hours was by playing people at pool. Being a woman, Nova would make more of an income as many drunk men undermined her abilities. Similarly, Dean did this the first time they played together.
Tonight, Nova had just finished winning against a motorcyclist who bet the keys to his bike which she did give back finding it of no use to her. Approaching Dean, who was also collecting his winnings, Nova showed off her wad of cash, grinning at the man as he turned to look at her.
"Do you know how amazing you are?" He questioned, grinning back as he stared at her eyes.
The girl let out a small laugh, feeling the blush push against her cheeks. "You might have to show me," Nova grinned again before spinning around to skip towards the exit. Dean watched her go, following her with his eyes until she skipped out of sight.
Outside, Nova continued to skip down the wooden stairs towards the Impala where Sam was waiting. He was lying across the hood of the car, reading a newspaper in the dark.
"Sam-Sam, look how much I got," Nova called out in a cheerful manner, stopping in front of him beside the car, waving the cash.
Sam looked up when he heard the noise of someone skipping towards him. A wide smile appeared on his face as he looked at the redhead across from him. "That's great Nova," He responded like he was her mother. "Now put it somewhere safe," Sam spoke softly, watching as Nova made her way into the backseat to hide her money. A few moments later, Sam glanced back up from his newspaper at the sound of Dean laughing proudly. He stared at his brother unimpressed, dropping the newspaper. "You know, we could get day jobs once in a while."
Dean glanced up from counting his money, "Hunting's our day job. And the pay is crap."
"Yeah, but hustling pool? Credit card scams? Not the most honest thing in the world, Dean. And I don't like that Nova is doing it."
"Well, let's see." Dean held up an empty hand, "Honest." He then raised his other hand holding a stack of notes, "Fun and easy." The man then pretended to work with the two, "It's no contest. Besides, we're good at it. It's what we were raised to do. So was Nova. I'm not forcing her to hustle sexist drunks."
"Well, how we were raised was jacked," Sam commented, watching as Dean continued to count his earnings.
"Yeah, says you." Dean glanced up at the newspaper in Sam's hand. "We got a new gig or what?"
