Hot steam from her hot chocolate filled Nova's nose as she waited for her drink to cool down. The trio had stopped at a small cafe as a driving break for Dean. They sat around a round metal table painted red, matching the chairs they sat on. Next to Nova, Dean sat watching as the girl blew on her drink to speed up the cooling process. Sam had abandoned his drink on the table to ring numbers on a phone box searching for their Dad. Using Sam's laptop, Dean was also researching a possible case for the three to look into

"Your half-caf double vanilla latte is getting cold over here, Frances," Dean called out to Sam who had returned from the phone box just outside the cafe.

"Bite me," Sam replied, sitting down in front of his drink.

"Anything?" Nova asked, directing her gaze towards Sam as she finally got to sip her drink.

Sam didn't respond straight away, stuffing a list of phone numbers into his jacket pocket. "I had them check the FBI's missing-person data bank. No John Does fitting Dad's description. I even ran his plates for traffic violations."

"Sam, I'm telling you, I don't think Dad wants to be found." Sam looked away at this as Nova gave him a sympathetic look which he missed. "Check this out," Dean pushed the laptop to face Sam, showing a news item. "It's a news item out of Plains Courier, Ankeny, Iowa. It's only about 100 miles from here."

"'The mutilated body was found near the victim's car parked on Nine-Mile Road.'" Sam read aloud before Dean told him to keep reading. "'Authorities are unable to provide a realistic description of the killer. The sole eyewitness whose name had been withheld is quoted in saying that the attacker was invisible.'"

Dean leaned towards Sam once he was finished. "Could be something interesting."

"Or nothing at all. One freaked out witness who didn't see anything doesn't mean it's the Invisible Man."

"But what if it is?" Nova questioned, raising her brows at her friend.

"Dad would check it out," Dean added finally getting Sam to agree.

The drive of just over an hour felt short to Nova. Arriving in the town, Dean drove to where the victim lived which was a college campus. Getting out of the car, Nova's eyes landed on the motorbike they parked behind then the many boys that were outside fixing their cars. Nova walked behind Dean before Sam came to beside him, opening his mouth.

"One more time, why are we here?"

"Victim lived here," Dean replied in a low voice, placing his arm around Nova's shoulders to bring her closer to him. Approaching the college student, Dean spoke up, trying to connect with them. "Nice wheels." All the boys turned around to look at the man holding a girl but they didn't say anything. "We're your fraternity brothers. From Ohio. Not her though." Dean grinned down at Nova as he softly shook her closer into his side. "We're new in town. Transfers. Looking for a place to stay."
