I've been looking forward to posting this chapter a while now. I'm really curious how you are gonna react to this...

I brought Smith to a halt, trying to catch my breath from the fast ride. His neck was shiny with sweat, his flanks were heaving. I patted him and mumbled a praise while I slipped off his back. In front of me laid a camp, brightly lit with campfires and torches. Now, as the sun set, it was impossible to miss. Colm O'Driscoll sure wasn't afraid of being found.

I shouldered my shotgun, a determined look on my face. „Stay here, boy. I'll be right back.", I told my horse. He lowered his head into the dry grass, as if agreeing with me. I took a deep breath, straightened my back and strode towards the camp.

Most of Colms men had gathered around the campfires, only a few of them guarded the collection of tents and huts. I could've probably slipped past them unnoticed, but I didn't bother hiding.

„Hey! You can't just walk in here! You've got any idea who you're messin' with?", one of the guards yelled at me, his repeater raised and ready to shoot.

My head snapped around to him. „I need to talk to Colm. Now."

Some sort of recognition crossed his face and he lowered the gun. „Are you...?"

„Yes, I am.", I interrupted him impatiently. „Get me to Colm."

„Okay, okay." The man sounded a little nervous, distrustful. But he didn't question my anymore. Quietly, he led me through the rows of tents, straight to a little hut. „There. He's in there."

I acknowledged his words with a nod. The man scrambled away, leaving me alone with the door in front of me. I straightened my back and knocked. It was silent for a moment, then I heard steps on the other side. Slowly, the door was opened. The warm light of a fire spilled out onto my face. In front of me stood Colm O'Driscoll.

I didn't give him time to speak. „What is all this about?" My voice shook with barely contained anger.

„What a friendly greeting. Nice to see you too, (Y/n)." He smiled, but it looked a more like an alligator trying to mimic human emotions than a genuine expression.

„Don't bother, Colm. You know why I'm here.", I huffed and crossed my arms in front of my chest.

„Let me guess...It's Arthur Morgan." Colm chuckled. „What a shame. Him and I were just starting to get along."

I gritted my teeth. „Why did you take him?" He parted his lips, but I interrupted him before he could say anything. „And I don't mean that you want to set a trap for Dutch. He won't come anyways, he knows your plan."

Colm squinted his eyes. „You didn't tell him, did you?"

„Course not. He figured it out himself." I stepped a little closer, my lips pressed into a thin line. „But we had a damn arrangement. You broke your word."

„Remind me again...What exactly binds me to my word?" Colm smirked, his expression dripping with venom.

„My work. I'm not doing this anymore if you don't accept my terms.", I gritted out.

„Easy, easy.", Colm mused, raising his hands in a calming gesture.

„You said you'd make sure he gets back to camp safe and without injury.", I spat. „You lied to me!"

„It was an...Unfortunate incident. My men got the commands wrong."

„Let him go. Right now. Otherwise this is the last time I give you any information." I swallowed heavily. It was the last information anyway, but Colm didn't know yet that I had left the Van der Linde Gang.
