Chapter 15

Jeb's Point of View

"Where the fuck did she go?! Where did Rayne go? He was supposed to watch her, what the fuck?!" I looked at the five, bloody guys standing in front of me. They were my men, my muscle, my servants, my workers and my customers. How could they fuck up so badly? More importantly, how could they let Karin get away for the second time?! Kile already fucked up so badly, he died for it. I can't let Rayne end up dead, but he's got his powers, I think he'll be okay. I took a deep breath and lowered myself onto the couch. "How did they get out?"

"From what I saw, Rayne helped her escape." Trent said. He's one of my main men, Kile was another one.

"That doesn't matter. Do you know why I keep you guys around? You're supposed to watch her, keep her top priority! What the hell were you guys doing, having your heads up your asses?!"

"Shut the fuck up, they had backup, a bunch of vampires and your bastard 'project,' Nick. There was only so much we could do! We'll just go out and get her back like last time, but fuck Rayne do you really need him?" Jason asked. He has a sharp mouth and talks a bunch of shit, I'm just not sure he can put his words into action.

"Of course I need Rayne back! Those are the two people that actually matter! They're the reason I'm still living! Get them back now, or I'll make sure you have nothing left to live for. Your family will be a distant memory and your life will be a living hell until you will beg me to kill you."

"We're already in hell, bastard." Jason muttered under his breath. I let it go and acted like I didn't hear anything. I just needed these guys to get Karin and Rayne back.

"Get cleaned up and leave in 10 minutes. I'll pay you guys when you get back, with both of them." I get up and walk down to the basement to check the others. There were three rooms separately in the basement, one with two siblings, the rest with a kid each. I open the room with the number 3 on it, my favourite number. This room always held the 'troubled' kids, Nick used to be in here.

"Hello, Spike, how do you like your new room?" I close the door behind me and leaned against the wall, a smirk on my face that I always greeted her with. Of course this girl's name wasn't Spike, but it fit her personality well. She had a sharp tongue and if she hits you, it would hurt, only if you were a normal human of course. She's a new addition I found on the streets, about 13 years old. She found some hair colour and now has blue electric hair. She is skinny and frail, like Karin when I found her, but Spike has more 'spunk' in her, I like that.

I like to think I'm helping these children, I mean they did live on the streets until I picked them up, I'm giving them a new home to live in. But they just have to learn that everything comes with a price.

"My name isn't Spike, you fucking bastard!" She spat at me. I walk towards her where she was sitting on a bed, back pressed against the wall. The room didn't have much furniture, just a bed. It wasn't a big room either; she didn't need anything else anyway. I brought her food, water and clothes, when she deserved it. I let her take showers daily but with limited time, she was treated just like the other kids.

"You know I don't appreciate that," I whisper into her ear, my right hand resting on her shoulder. "Now tell me, where are you getting the sharp object to cut yourself with?" I'm impressed; she's still somewhat stable and strong, unlike the others. She may even be at Karin's level.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said through gritted teeth, voice steady. She wasn't sweating or nervous, which is shocking to be honest. The other kids would be shaking in fear, hell, Nick did at one point.
