Book 1:
One betrayal started it. One empire will end it.
Five years following the defeat of the Fire Nation, the world experiences an unprecedented age of peace and prosperity. All seems well; however, danger looms as the resurrection of old and ne...
The morning sun spilled through the window, painting long shadows across silk sheets. Azula woke without nightmares for the first time in months. Strange. Unsettling. Almost... pleasant. Servants brought breakfast: steamed pork buns, spiced rice, honeyed fruits. She ate like someone who hadn't tasted real food in weeks, barely noticing the flavors.
A knock.
"Princess. The Khan requests you."
She followed the guard through quiet halls to a sunlit chamber. Rokkun stood before a tall mirror, sliding into a dark robe that clung to his frame like smoke. The fabric parted just enough to reveal inked dragons curling over his shoulders and down his back, scars cutting through them like lightning.
He didn't turn, but his reflection caught hers and smiled.
"Sleep well, Princess?"
"Better than expected," she admitted, letting her gaze linger. "Your hospitality is... thorough."
He turned then turned, robe settling, eyes dancing. "Good. Can't have my favorite guest cranky." He stepped closer, voice dropping to that velvet growl she was starting to recognize. "Hungry for more than breakfast?"
Azula's lips curved, slow and dangerous. "Depends what's on the menu."

Rokkun laughed, low and warm. "You always did like playing with fire."
A beat of silence, charged.
Azula broke it first. "You look like you've been busy carving your name into the world."
He tilted his head, amusement flickering. "Jealous?"
"Curious," she corrected. "Dead men don't usually come back this... polished."
Rokkun's grin flashed. "Who said I ever died?"
Azula's eyebrow arched. "Touché."
He stepped into her space, close enough she could feel the heat radiating off him. "Some ghosts are more fun when they stay mysterious."
Azula didn't retreat. "Ghosts don't usually conquer cities."
"Exactly." His grin widened. "Makes me special."
She rolled her eyes, but the corner of her mouth betrayed her. "You're insufferable."
"And you're curious." He offered his arm like it was the most natural thing in the world. "Come. My scouts found an Earth Kingdom patrol sniffing too close. Small. Arrogant. Perfect for a warm-up."
Azula's pulse quickened. "A raid?"
"Call it a welcome gift." He leaned in, breath against her ear. "Ride with me, Princess. Let's remind the world why fire still rules."
Azula took his arm, fingers tightening just enough to feel the muscle beneath. "Try to keep up."
Rokkun's laugh followed her all the way to the stables.
