Thunder hollered obnoxiously as raindrops smothered the windows, lightning cracked in the distance. "Damn," Cora's brows raised, "storm's giving it hell today." Amanda and Lorelai hummed in agreement as they walked down the ominously quiet stairs. "I'm glad they ended lessons early," Amanda smiled, "especially since so many classes are outside at these hours."
"Yeah but that's not the only reason." Lorelai chimed in, "The professors were gonna have an 'urgent meeting' or something like that. That's why Professor Tethys asked us to come get the snacks now instead of later." Cora tilted her head. "I wonder what their meeting's about anyway.." she opened an empty potion bottle, "They don't usually call off lessons for those unless it's something extreme."
The girls reached the dining hall, Lorelai spoke as they entered, "Maybe it's about what happened at the beach?" The two girls agreed with a hum. "That's gotta be it," Amanda pointed, "cause I've never seen Chasm that scared. I asked June about it, too, she said that Chasm never shows fear unless it's something really alarming." Cora stopped, "Speaking of June, aren't her and another girl from Karissa's tutoring joining us?"
Lorelai nodded eagerly, "Yes! Karissa and I invited June and Crystalline. I have them both in my Herbology," Lorelai bounced lightly with excitement, "they are so nice and fun to be around and I just know the girls night is gonna be much more enjoyable with their energy!" Amanda smiled, "Well I'm glad they're invited. I've only met June once in first class," they all walked up to the kitchen as she continued, "that girl has some brains. Chasm even asks her if something is correct or not. Chasm. Asks. her!"
"By the way," Lorelai's brows furrowed, "where's Karissa?" The girls had last seen Karissa that morning at breakfast, but she hadn't gone to any other classes and wasn't seen at the dorm. "I don't know," Amanda said, "she kind of disappeared.." Cora gave them both an encouraging look, "I'm sure she's okay. Maybe she came down with something and had to be checked out at the Medic. She'll probably tell us when we see her again."
Amanda seemed unsure, "Should we check the Medic? What if something bad happened with her magic again?" Ever since their first time apart, Amanda was always more vigilant and protective of Karissa. She promised to never separate again, and they both promised to always tell each other everything they did each day. "She'll be okay, Amanda.." Lorelai assured, "Karissa's tough, whatever she's doing I guarantee she'll tell us later."
Footsteps approached them from behind, "I figured you girls would be early." Professor Tethys Saturn, a short, young looking woman with bright pink eyes. Her attire a white buttoned shirt with a brown bandana-like silk wrap belted around her waist. Her pants were jeans of a dark navy, almost skin tight. The black boots she wore stopped just below her knees, laces hiking all the way up from her toes. She had her strawberry blonde hair slicked back to prevent the bouncy curls from sticking out, almost too short for the way she had it tied at the back of her neck.
The three girls turned to greet her in unison, "Hi, Professor!" Tethys smiled, her pale face going rosy in her cheeks, "Hello, girls." In her arms was a basket, "I'll help you three gather the snacks you want to take and you can have the basket. I have plenty of these in my office." Cora beamed with delight. "Thank you, Professor! We won't take too many snacks, it'll just be a few of us girls hanging out in our dorm." Tethys nodded and proceeded to the kitchen.
In the dining hall, there were two kitchen spaces, one on each side of the hall, both having a different variety of sustenance. For breakfast at the Left Kitchen, the largest one, they would have a variety of savory breakfast options including eggs, bacon, turkey bacon, beef sausage, and buttered breads such as biscuits, bagels, english muffins and croissants. On the Right Kitchen, there were more sweets and pastry items like muffins, custard filled breads like croissants and jelly donuts.
