Chapter 10

The first thing I felt when I finally gained consciousness was my brain pounding against my skull, I could practically hear it for how strong it was. Groaning by the weird sensation I rubbed my eyes and slowly stood up from the forest floor, feeling how my back cracked as I straightened my posture. I simply slowed blinked as I slowly regained my surroundings, scratching the back of my head and yawning. You know for not being able to feel pain it's weird how I can sorta feel this hangover, perhaps for a person who can feel pain it'd be killing them.

Talking about hangovers, I wonder how Ej's holding up? I glanced over where Ej was supposed to be but found an empty spot, well except for a sheet of paper replacing where they were supposed to be. I leaned over a bit, grabbed the note and read it aloud, " Went to go get food, will be back. By Ej. Hmm good to know!"

With that cleared up, I quickly stood up, brushed off any debris from the floor, and began packing my stuff up, destroying the campfire so that we left no traces behind. As I began cleaning up a bit I began reminiscing about last night, how it started out fun with me and Ej just goofing around, to me getting trapped at a party, and ending with me and EJ drinking away our problems in the middle of the night alone with each other. I chuckled to myself as I thought back, it was truly comedic how all that happened in a few hours. Starting to recall the dumb stuff that me and Ej did when we were drunk, I know I started just talking about the most random stuff to them, at some point I think we just started singing? Gah and I don't even remember it that well! I would've loved having that memory of Ej singing with me! It would have been funny!

I finished cleaning and packing up so I opted to sit down on the floor remembering the crazy things we did as I waited for Ej to come back. 'What else did we do....Hmmm' I tried remembering some other stuff but sadly it seems all like a blur, just a jumble of things happening all at once. I scrunch my face as I try piecing things together when all of a sudden I just get hit by a weird blurry yet vivid memory of ej mask rising a bit to show their mouth being extremely close to mine. My eyes immediately went wide and my whole body tensed up.

'Wait wha-'

"Hey."

"AAHH!" I immediately jumped and quickly turned around, seeing Ej with a white bag in hand. It took me a while to process what they said so I quickly answered them back, "H-Hey ma- POP -man, w-w-wass-wassup!" Composing myself as I tried playing it cool.

Ej simply tilted their head and walked towards me, handing me the bag they had, "Food"

"Food? Really?" I grabbed the bag and set it down on the floor, opening it and getting hit with a warm delicious smell, "Sw-sweet *pop*!" I took the container out and opened it, seeing a breakfast sandwich cut in half alongside a side of fries and pieces of fruit. I gently grabbed half of the sandwich and handed it to Ej, "Here man eat up, I'll eat the other half!"

Ej simply shook their head and motioned the sandwich to me, I raised my brow as I still insisted they take the sandwich, "Dude don't worry about me you need to eat too come on" They still shook their head at me, grabbing their notepad from their bag and scribbled down.

'I can't eat it, my stomach won't allow it. Prefer human meat'

I gave out a little hum as I read their note, bringing the sandwich to my mouth and taking a huge bite, "V-very well the-POP-n, just tell m-me if you d-do want a bite from it" Ej nodded at me as they watched me scarf down the food. It was a pretty peaceful pause we had until Ej motioned to my face and said, "Red?"

I coughed a bit from the food and from what they said, "Red? What *Crack* do you mean by red? My fa-face? Is it red now?"

They made an 'eh' noise as they grabbed their notepad again,
