Running. Running.
He was like an animal.
He could keep up with a car pushing eighty miles per hour and still not break out in a sweat, and Josh was trying to keep up with him.
Solomon suddenly came to a grinding halt and watched as Josh slowed to a stumbling walk and came up beside him.
"I'm- I'm sorry. I forget." Solomon mumbled, scratching the back of his head.
"Solomon... what has happened to you?"
"Me? -What about you?"
Josh choked up.
He struggled to find words to say, but all he could see in his minds eye was his brother Jacob.
"Josh," Solomon made him stay quiet. "I'm different now. The things I've been through. The time in isolation I've spent alone in these woods. I won't ever be who I was before, some things can't be reversed."
"Ya well, what even happened!"
Solomon thought what he said was enough, but his brother wanted more. A real answer.
Solomon turned his back to Josh for a moment, then whipped around again.
"I feel that, somehow, I've been altered. Drastically." He held his hands out, staring at them. "Sometimes it feels like a stranger is poking and prodding around inside my head. That I don't know myself anymore."
Josh was kneeling on the ground, looking up at his brother. "I have- I can conjure up lightning."
"I know." Solomon gave a nod of understanding. "And I'm an animal."
Josh's eyes suddenly widened.
"I mean." Solomon continued. "Ever heard of a sixth sense?"
"Yeah."
"It's that, and more. I can run faster, jump higher, hear better. I can tell you the ingredients off a soda can from a mile away." He laughed to himself. "I can even see in the dark."
"Is that how you knew about my power?"
"I know about your power becau-" Solomon abruptly dropped the conversation.
"..... Sol-"
"Shh."
Solomon in a very smooth and precice manner drew the machete out from his back.
"It knows we have it."
"Have what?!"
"It knows we have the chip."
Josh suddenly became panicked. "Woah, what does?"
"The thing, the monster."
Josh was out of it. "What??"
Solomon wrought a cheeky smile, then became very serious."Basically..... run."

With a few minor bruises and a crap load of luck, Nathan and Teddy remained generally unscathed when they lay Jacob out on a table in the middle of what looked like an old nurses station that Derek had stumbled across.
Derek was searching the place up and down looking almost angry, but was jerked out of his sour demeanor when he spotted a closet off to the side.
"Guys. I think I found something!"
While Derek scoped out the interior of the small closet, Nathan looked around.
Slowly he scanned the room taking in the grimy walls and many un-sterilized needles that we're strewn across the floor.
Once he took a wrong step and a glass syringe crunched beneath his foot. It was a most uncomfortable feeling.
When Nathan thought that Derek was fully preoccupied and slightly out of ear reach he turned to Teddy.
"Teddy?"
Teddy turned towards Nathan.
"What did you mean when you said Jacob had an ability like I do."
Teddy swallowed hard.
"Oh." Nathan said, realizing his confession and getting slightly embarrassed. "Sorry for my sudden..... yanno-"
"Supernatural abilitys." Derek called out from the closet.
"It was weird." Derek continued. "Teddy didn't seem at all phased at Nathan's new superpower." Derek suddenly turned around to face the two. "Any reason why?"
Nathan was aggravated and embarrassed. "Derek, you're making things worse, just shut up."
Derek shot him a look.
"Ya, well I'm tired, and hungry. My leg hurts like heck. And I'm sick of secrets." Derek's anger was rising. "So is it ok, if I just ask some questions!!"
It happened so fast Teddy barely had time to register it.
One second they we're arguing, almost yelling, and the next second fists we're flying. Teddy ducked below the island where Jacob lay and pressed his back against it to keep away from the flying shards of glass.
Derek started walking towards Nathan when the man shoved him away, and Derek retaliated by trying to deck him. Nathan had grabbed Derek by the shirt and slammed him into the wall causing a metal cart stocked full of jarred liquids to shatter and cover the floor in a dark, crimson color.
The only reason that this battle was stopped was when Derek abrubtly yelled in agony, and almost went limp except for the fact that he clung to Nathan.
"Derek!" The humanity sprung back into Nathan.
Derek was still angry though.
"Don't you ever-!!" Derek drew his knife.
Nathan thought quickly and grabbed a precision blade from the counter top and raised it. "If you want to be that stupid go ahead! I won't stop y-!"
A shot rang out.
A spark and a violent pop drove a bullet into to the wall and sent a picture frame shattering on the floor.
Both of them jerked.
Teddy stood there, his hands shaking, barely keeping the heavy revolver steady.
"Y- you guys are idiots!" The words we're said with vexation. "Your going to kill each other!! And over what exactly!"
Teddy kept on.
"Can't you.. Don't you realize. Its still- in our heads. I mean, doesn't something feel off to you."
Teddy's voiced trailed off. "This place.. Its infested with a disease. Just a little while ago we we're hallucinating about monsters and demons, and now, when we think we're safe, we're at each others throats."
For a long while there was an eery silence, and then Derek slowly lost the grip on his knife and it dropped to the floor. "I don't know what's going on anymore." His eyes fell towards the ground. "I'm sorry. I lost my sanity there for a bit. Its- Its just as so frustrating! Ugh!" Derek pressed his fist to his head in exasperation.
Nathan who had been severely effect by Teddy's speach dropped the knife and tried to hide his shaking hands. "This all went so wrong so fast. Everything, from the very beginning, has been twisted."
Abruptly Derek's mood changed. "Hey, how'd you get that gun?"
Teddy chuckled. "To be honest. I just found it lying around. And another thing," He looked at them both. "Jacob. Is smart. Smart beyond my comprehension. I don't know how it happened, or why it did, but it's connected to you two somehow."
"Well," Nathan gave a weak smile. "If it's a disease. You're probably infected too." He nodded towards Teddy.
"Ya, but." Teddy gazed around. "These hallucinagins and these sudden supernatural powers, they seem different somehow."
"How do they seem different?" Nathan asked.
"They seem to be from two different-" Teddy's gaze drifted beyond Derek and Nathan and to the doorway. Teddy froze, not a muscle in his body seemed to move.
A pudgy man, around fifty, with gray hair and silver spectacles stood in the doorway watching them. He wore a rather old pocket vest which looked like it had about had it's end, and suspenders which accented his seemingly round tummy.
Nathan and Derek after a few seconds of confusion followed Teddy's gaze and took a step back in shock.
The man looked around the room at each of them, and when finished, adjusted his spectacles with thumb and forefinger.
"Vat is it that brought you to my establishment. Hm?"
Teddy stammered. "Our- our friend was hurt and w- we didn't know where else to go."
This man, took approximately two point five seconds longer than anyone should take to reply, and caused the three of them to feel very awkward.
"Hmm. Your frend seems very ded to me."
"He's not!" Teddy lowered his voice. "...He's not dead."
"Very well sen. Follow me."
"Wh- wait, why?"
"To help your frend of course. Now come, we musn't waste time."
Teddy panicked and looked toward the guys for help but Nathan just shrugged his shoulders and gave the 'I don't know what the heck to do' face.
So the three of them, very cautiously, moved towards the door.
"Oh. And we should ve able to remove zat piece of glass from your leg also." The man pointed to Derek.
"Oh, um. Cool." Derek cleared his throat. "Uh, what do we call you?"
The man turned towards them. "You may call Doc."
Nathan piped in. "You got a first name or?"
"Doc."
"Oh. Alright."
"Come now, we must head downstairs to zhe laboratory."
Derek was the last to head out and glanced at one of the fallen picture frames on the floor. To be honest. Its was creepy as heck. [Photo above]
"And von last thing." All the boys locked eyes with the strange man. "Don't shoot my wall again."
"Yes sir." Teddy said, "That won't happen again."
