NathaaAAAaaAan. NaaaAathan. Nathan. Nathan!

All of a sudden Nathan sat up and sucked in air, staring at the concrete to focus on breathing.

"Nathan." Teddy placed his hand on his friends shoulder.

CRACK!

Nathan planted his fist in Teddy's face, sending the man falling onto his butt. Teddy was writhing on the floor moaning, pressing his hands to his face.

Derek, who was behind Nathan, slipped him into a headlock and tried to calm him down. Soon Nathan relaxed, letting Derek have full control, which was a surprise.

Nathan looked extremely pale, his skin was tinted gray and his eyes were puffy and red. "Dude, Derek, not so rough." Teddy sat up, still pitching his nose. "He looks like he's been through- excuse my language- hell."

Nathan sat there staring at Teddy, his face full of pain, but looking as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.

Jacob, though present, just sat with his head resting against the wall and his eyes closed. He was trying to catch his breath while simultaneously blocking out all of the weird jiz that had been happening lately.

Derek glanced at Jacob. "You think he's ok?" He asked, directing the question at Teddy.

Teddy turned back towards Nathan. "He'll be fine."

Nathan was looking straight at Teddy but he wasn't speaking, he was just leaning against Derek while the rest of his body basically went limp, like he was completely drained of energy.

"I'm sorry." He whispered, barely getting the words out.

Derek frowned. "I find that apologizing for something you had no control over isn't exactly fair."

"But I, " Nathan rubbed his face with his hands. "I remember all of it. I almost killed Jacob."

"Almost." Jacob still had his eyes closed. "It's alright. Just give me a sandwich and I'll be good."

Teddy's stomach rumbled. "Let's not talk about food."

"Ssssmall humans. Very tasty. Like sandwiches."

Suddenly everyone's head snapped towards the voice.

"Yep yep. Tasty humans. Fresh blood. Doc told me to infect them. Yep."

Down the hallway and around the corner a shadow appeared. The boys shuffled backwards as it grew closer. By the time the things head peaked around the corner, Jacob has risen from his seating position and Derek had taken a protective stance, blocking Nathan's view entirely.

It's mind seemed to float between revealing itself or staying hidden.

"Uhhhhhg. Humans are detestable. They make me nervous."

Derek hesitated, trying to focus on the words being spoken and not the odd tone in which it was said. "Come out!" He yelled.

"Pfftttt. I think not. Doc made mission very clear. Mmhmm. Never be seen."

"The Doc is dead!" A rush of heads turned their attention towards Jacob when he spoke those words.

"Jacob. How do you-" Teddy was cut off. "The Doc is dead." Jacob took a few steps forward. "I saw him. I don't know how he died but he's gone."

Nathan started sweating.

No reply came for a few minutes.

"You lie."

"Check the flooded hallway."

More hesitation.

Slowly a hand slipped out from from the shadows and a wrinkly creature emerged.

Most of the guys were slightly disgusted at the moment. Seeing a creature void of any hair, with skin wrinkling like an old man, and wearing nothing but a loin cloth.

"Gollum?" Derek said.

The thing hissed at them.

"Steve?" Nathan asked.

The creature froze and cocked his head. "How do we know Steve's name?"

With the help of Derek, Nathan got to his feet. "The Doc-"

"Frasier."

Nathan paused. "What?"

"Frasier Dixon. The Doc."

"Oh." Nathan exchanged glances with the guys. "He was your partner?"

"Mmhm. Yep."

"He told you to... Infect us? Why?"

Steve snuffed. "Stupid question. Ask another."

The tense conversation broke when a bullet raked across the walls. The sudden crashing sound made Jacob's ears pop. "Answer the question beast!"

Two shadowy figures stood in the hallway on the other side of Steve. The creature screeched and started spilling out curses, slowly backing himself up against the wall. "Nasty little creatures!"

Shing! The sound of a metal object, either a knife or a sword, had appeared in one of the mans hand. "Short king of Israel! You must die!"

Derek glanced at Teddy in confusion. "What???"

"Solomon!" Jacob called out.

The man smiled in the dim light, showing off a set of white teeth that seemed to glow in the dark. "Been awhile."

Josh happened to be standing next to Solomon and he cocked the pistol in his hand. "Tell us why the Doc wanted us as test subjects!"

The thing wailed. "Shoot me. Shoot meeeeee!" In a flash of movement the thing sped of into the dark recesses of the building.

"Crap!" Solomon slammed his machete onto the ground in anger. "We'll never catch him now."

Slowly Solomon's gaze turned to the people around him. "So what strange powers did you guys get?"

The question was so unexpected the room feel silent. Derek awkwardly raised his hand. "I- I can control water."

Silence.

"Well... I can pass through walls." Teddy said, looking at Nathan.

"Telekinesis." Nathan added.

Solomon nodded. Finally he looked towards his brother. "And what does my brother here got?" Jacob felt warm inside, because his brother was smiling at him, almost as if proud of him for holding out so long.

"I found the cure for cancer."

"What??" Nathan looked confused.

"I'm smart ok. I don't quite understand it myself."

Josh glanced at his watch and clapped Solomon on the shoulder. "Dude, we need to get out of here. The place is set to blow in five minutes."

"What??!" Nathan said again.

"Long story." Said Solomon. "We thought it would be better to keep, all this, a secret." He addressed the men. "You ready?"

With a few exchange of looks, the boys nodded and they took off running down the hall. Jacob fell in sync with Solomon and huffed out a question. "So what are we going to do after all of this?"

Solomon thought about it a moment then turned to his brother. He smiled, there was a mischievous twinkle in the mans eye. "I dont know."
