In the years that had passed, the Avengers had become increasingly more family-like to one another. This had proven to almost be impossible a few years ago, during the events of when the younger Asgardian prince Loki, decided to pay a visit to Earth. Although that had being a serious problem for them in the past it had all been cleared up, and Loki was sent back to Asgard and imprisoned. However, that wasn't the end of the Avengers' feuds.
Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, had a quite unlikely occurrence happen. His best friend had returned from the dead, or so he thought. He had returned brainwashed and knowing little about his surroundings and even his own name. It took a while, but after some time Steve managed to befriend him again. Even though he had achieved this, Nick Fury didn't take it light heartedly . Instead he told Steve to abandon his friend because he was a lost cause. He said there was no way that his friend would be able to remember anything, and that Steve should just move on. Steve acknowledged Fury's request, but for the past few years he has been sharing a flat with his friend. More over, it had actually helped his friend's memory.
Having experienced these events, the Avengers had grown closer to one another and so started to trust each other more. Tony and Steve had finally talked over their different opinions and settled them, but nothing could settle Tony's usual personality. Everyone one else had also settled their little quarrels. However the relationship between Bruce and Thor didn't change, due to the fact that Thor had yet to return from Asgard. There must have been a lot going on over there.
Today was the day the Avengers would meet in the Tower for their regular meet up. Nothing too serious, but they still exchanged plans incase something monumentally bad hit New York, again. The only problem was this time Thor wasn't there. This could also be seen as a positive, due to the fact that Thor was always in the fridge, stuffing his face with whatever was available. That was, when the others weren't looking. Crumbs and flakes of food would be scattered in almost a trail, on the floor up onto Thor's mighty armoured chest.
Steve returned from his morning jog, breathing a bit heavier than usual. Bucky, who seemed to have acted like Steve's shadow for the the majority of the time jogging, also entered the flat. They both kicked off their shoes and neatly nudged them into the shoe-holder, just after entering. Steve gave Bucky a light smile, which was returned by Bucky. Steve then walked into the kitchen.
"Bucky, do want anything to eat?" Steve moved a few items on the counter, making a noticeable clank. "I don't know if you had breakfast before we left." Steve's breathing was less noticeable now he had cooled down and regained his breath.
"Nah it's fine. I had breakfast earlier." Bucky's voice was almost normal but he hid the slight heavy breathing, that was caused when trying to catch up with Steve.
"Okay, well are you hungry now?" Steve responded. Bucky shock his head, causing his hair to swish in his face. He looked at his hair crosseyed, and tried to blow it out of his eyesight. This ended with him looking fairly annoyed and Steve trying to suppress the urge to laugh. "You might want to get your hair trimmed or even cut soon Buck. It seems to be getting in the way a lot recently. I mean, you almost fell into a bin the other day." Steve again tried not to laugh at the thought. He looked over to Bucky who hid his face from the embarrassment, of the memory.
Bucky turned round and replied with,
"Well it isn't as bad as when you got ambushed by all those girls, but they didn't see me because I hid. That lasted for about 2 hours because you're too polite." Bucky smirked, which led onto Steve doing the same.
"Well we better start to get ready, better to be early than late." Steve said, just as he finished making his coffee. Bucky walked up the stairs to his room, to get dressed for the occasion.
That was right. Today Steve would try his luck and take a plus one to the Avengers meet up. He had no idea how the others would react, so it was quite the gamble. He was aware of all Bucky had done when he was the Winter Soldier and that the rest of them had also been informed. There was also that section of information, that was classified but Steve was able to get his hands on, concerning the death of Tony's parents. That part was making Steve feel the most nervous, over all. How would Tony react knowing that the person responsible for their deaths, was trying to fit into the the team he was part of? Would he reject the idea? Would the others also think it's a bad idea too?
He couldn't be thinking about this now. He'd just have to hope that everyone would have positive thoughts about it, and Bucky wasn't the Winter Soldier. He was back to being, well Bucky. Steve had his best friend back, and it was only natural for him to want his friend to be in on what he was.
Bucky came back down, wearing a plain grey, slightly tight t-shirt, loose fitting, around the legs, jeans and a dark blue hoodie. He hadn't bothered to do anything special with his hair, it probably would have taken up too much time. Steve probably would have made fun of it too.
"You better get ready too, Steve." Bucky informed, hands slid into the front pocket pouch of his hoodie, in a relaxed motion.
"Oh yeah." Steve was brought back from his day-dreaming. He had finished his coffee by now. He walked to his bedroom, had a quick shower and gotten dressed. He wore his checked blue shirt, with jeans like Bucky's and a cream coloured jacket.
He strode to the door, but not as confidently as usual. He had a couple of things on his mind. Both of them walked out the door, setting off to the Avengers Tower.
