(Kristina's POV)
I didn't met with Jessie after I came out of Sage's loft. I wasn't home for two days. I needed some time to think and Lizzy's apartment was the only place I could disappear into. In that span of time, I thought about my past and my future, I thought about 'her'... Sagittarius. How can you be so drawn to a person you just met? How can her touch divide your emotions into an uncontrolled state of illusions? A mesmerizing glare of her electric soul will allow you to see your inner most desires. An eclectic being of such diversity will stretch out and will always confront an immortal like sinner. Our play has yet to begun and it scares me. My well-known role will upstage another dark aristocrat, making my face of deliverance crawl upon you.
I've made my decision.
The carpeted floors of the theater's aisle helped me walk silently. My hands were trembling as it turns into a fist. I released every breath of stupidity using my mouth while blinking my eyes to stop myself from crying.
AJ was sitting at the first row of the seats, her head bowed down and both elbows resting on her knees. I called out to her and she immediately turned her head to face me. She quickly stood up and ran up to me. She then hugged me, burying her head on my shoulder, "I love you, Kristina." She said with her voice cracking.
I looked away and tears started to fled from my eyes, "A-are you mad?"
She looked at me, her hands are now caressing my arms, "No... I could never stay mad at you." Her words were like whispers of a gentleman. She was always sweet and passionate, yet here I am responding only with silence. Still looking away, I pursed my lips while tucking strands of my hair at the back of my ear. She knew something was wrong but I couldn't tell her just yet. Though, I can tell from my peripheral vision her eyes were puzzled by the way I was acting. She looked down, "I think I know what you're going to tell me. But to make sure... I want you to tell me instead."
I returned my gaze at AJ as I held up my breath, "If you're thinking I was with Sage for two days, you're wrong. I wasn't with her. I was at Lizzy's. I just needed to get away from all of this. I know I should have called and told you I was okay but somehow I couldn't. Still, I have to be honest and... and..." I looked away again and bit my lip.
"And what?"
"I'm sorry, AJ..." on that moment I lost it, I cried and felt guilty, I know I would hurt her. I looked at her again and she was already crying. I placed my palm on her cheek and said, "After you left, I took Sage at the hospital to stitch up her open wound... then afterwards..." I looked down and covered my face using my hands.
AJ grabbed me and held me tightly, "Please... please say it isn't so."
I couldn't hug her back, I just wanted to disappear but I have to tell her, "She took me to her loft and—"
"Stop... Please. No more." She held me tighter and tried to comfort me, she kissed my head while rubbing my back, "It's okay. I forgive you."
I looked up and saw her bitter smile while wiping away my tears, "I initiated it. W-we almost did it... I almost went through with it..." I broke free from her loving arms as I looked down on the engagement ring she has given me. I slowly pulled it out on my finger and without looking at her, I reached for her hand and placed the ring on her palm. "I chose Sage. I'm so sorry, AJ." I quickly turned around and ran to the door.
I have to leave now because I know she will fight for me but I won't let her do that. I know what I'm doing and what I'm choosing from this point on will be on me. Again, call me whatever you want; a slut, a whore, a bitch? I don't care. I assure you, this was my fate. Now let me ask you, do I seem familiar to you?
I glanced back to see if AJ followed me and I was right. She stood by the doorway, mentally asking me to stay. But I turned my eyes away from her and quickly waved my hand to catch a cab. I got inside and tried my best not to take a peek at AJ.
"Where to, Miss?" asked the driver.
"Just drive."
The cab driver obeyed and quickly drove off. I reached for my phone in my pocket and dialed Sage's number.
On the third ring, she answered, "Yes?"
"Where are you?" I asked, trying to compose myself.
She released a sigh before she answered, "I'm at home."
"Good. I'll see you there." I hung up the phone and instructed the cab driver to go to Manhattan.
Imagine me clinging on to a shroud of a Delphic riddle. My curse and this enigmatic being of defiance can defy human nature. Together, we will condemn ourselves in an enclosed space where the legitimacy of my existence will foreshadow the weak.
When I arrived at Sage's loft, I was greeted by her butler and gestured me to stay at the living area. But my eyes was bolted at her office door. I ignored Ethan's instructions and walked passed by him. I invited myself in her office and saw she was in a meeting with a bunch of snobbish rich beings. They gazed at my direction as they narrow their muggy vision on me but my eyes were fixated at Sage.
She cleared her throat and told everyone to leave us. When the room was empty, she stood up and walked towards me. Her smirk indicated she was happy to see me. She was about to reach in for a kiss but I turned my head away.
"What's wrong?" she asked looking so confused.
I looked back at her and said, "I called off the wedding."
She scoffed tilting her head sideways while playing with her mouth using her right hand. She then walked back at her desk and sat on it as she crosses her arms on her chest, "Why?" she asked with a smirk.
"You know why." I answered slowly walking towards her. I pressed the front of my body against hers and stared at her with an inviting smile while I wrap my arms around her neck. Her mouth once again showed her famous grin as she reached in for another kiss but I turned away again, "Not so fast..." I whispered
She chuckled and placed her hands on my waist as she bit her lip, "Alright... What's the catch?"
I brushed her dark hair up using my right hand while I caressed her soft lips using my left index finger, "End it with Francesca."
In an instant, her facial expression changed. The seriousness of her face pointed out a dilemma inside her mind. But this was my requirement, a condition that cannot be broken.
"I don't think I can do that."
I smirked and shrugged my shoulders as I removed myself from her, "Suit yourself." I then turned my back and started to walk away.
"Wait."
I turned around again to face her with a bored look on my face, "Yes?"
She stood up and gestured me to come closer and so I did. She stared at me trying to study my face, she sighed while reaching for my hand, "I will do what you asked... just give me time to say goodbye to my beloved secret."
I nodded while biting my lip.
Once again, my body responded in a way that was too familiar for me. I was so drawn to her. I couldn't help myself, I reached in for a kiss that she could never ever forget. I then pulled away and smiled, hanging her from a sensation of desire, "Until then..." I whispered.
