Sakshi’s POV:

The warm sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains of my room as I stared out the window. The serene view of Ooty’s rolling hills and the soft chirping of birds should have brought peace to my restless mind, but it didn’t. My thoughts were miles away, circling one person who had quietly, yet unmistakably, etched himself into my life—Aditya.

I let out a frustrated sigh, clutching the hot mug of coffee in my hands. “What is wrong with me?” I whispered to myself.

Every memory of him was so vivid, as if my brain had decided to catalog each moment. His mischievous smirks, his protective gestures, the way his voice would soften when he teased me—it all played on a loop.

“Could I really… love him?” The question felt foreign yet oddly comforting.

A knock on the door jolted me from my thoughts. I quickly straightened, trying to mask the chaos in my head.

“Come in,” I called out.

The door creaked open, revealing Aarohi, her face lighting up as she spotted me.

“There you are!” she said, plopping onto my bed unceremoniously. “Why do you look so... pensive? What’s going on?”

“Nothing,” I said quickly, sipping my coffee as a weak distraction. But Aarohi wasn’t someone I could fool that easily.

She narrowed her eyes at me. “Sakshi, I’ve known you long enough to know when you’re lying. Now spill it!”

I hesitated, but the weight of my feelings begged to be released. Setting the mug down, I took a deep breath. “It’s… Aditya.”

Aarohi’s eyes widened, then a knowing smile crept onto her face. “Oh, so you finally admit it!”

“Admit what?” I shot back defensively, though my flushed cheeks betrayed me.

“That you like him! Actually, no, you love him.” Aarohi wiggled her eyebrows playfully.

I groaned, burying my face in my hands. “Why is this so difficult?”

“Because you’re scared,” Aarohi said gently. Her playful tone faded, replaced by genuine concern. “You’re scared of opening up, of letting someone in completely. But Sakshi, love isn’t supposed to be easy—it’s supposed to be worth it.”

Her words hit a nerve. Was I really scared of loving Aditya? Of admitting that his presence lit up my dull days, that his absence left me restless?

“But what if… what if he doesn’t feel the same?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Aarohi gave me a pointed look. “Oh, please. The man practically looks at you like you hung the stars in the sky. He’s not subtle, Sakshi.”

I let out a small laugh despite myself. “You think so?”

“I know so,” Aarohi said confidently. “And I also know you’ll regret it if you don’t tell him how you feel.”

Her words lingered in my mind long after she left. Could I muster the courage to tell Aditya the truth?

Later that Evening

The entire group decided to go for an evening walk to explore the nearby tea plantations. The cool breeze carried the earthy scent of fresh tea leaves as everyone chatted and laughed, but my mind was solely on Aditya, who was walking a few paces ahead of me.

He turned suddenly, his eyes finding mine. “Hey, you okay?” he asked, falling into step beside me.

“Yeah, just… enjoying the view,” I lied, though my heart was pounding in my chest.
