Kayla, Hayes and I sit in the back of my grandparents mini van. This week me and Kayla are making phone calls tell family, and friends about our parents passing. Hayes was here because I needed my best friend here while I was sending my parents away. As we entered Philadelphia, I looked at Hayes as he looked down at me. I smiled and poked his nose, Hayes chuckled and turned to look out the window.
" You kids wanna stop, and get some food?" My grandma had asked us. We all mumbled a sure as my grandpa pulled into a Boston market. We all got out the car and walked into the restaurant.
"Mikayla walk me to the bathroom please." Kayla asked me. I stood up and walked in to the big but clean restroom. The stalls were a mahogany wood ,and the sink was some type of stone. Kayla fixed her hair in the mirror and her eyeliner.
"Don't you miss Philly ?" I said to Kayla.
"Yeah...I do." She said fixing her hair.
"I wish they were here Kay."
" miss mom and dad too. But I know they wouldn't want us crying over them." . I put my hand on her back .
"It's not our fault Kay, you know that." I said. I was only saying that because I needed to hear it. I felt like my parents death was on me and I was ashamed of that.
"I know, but they were getting us. "
"Let's not make grand worry okay. Come on." Kayla said and held the door open for me as I walked through. Grandpa and Hayes were already at the counter ordering our food. When me and kayla got back to the table my grandma wasn't there.
"Where could she be?"kayla asked as I looked around. I saw her standing outside pacing back and forth, on the phone. She hung up and came back inside .
"Here she comes." I told kayla, right as grandma sat down . Hayes and grandpa walked back with the plates. Hayes sat down beside me and handed me my plate. I mumbled a thanks and began to eat the my Mac&cheese.
We had small talk through out our meal and then hopped right back in the car ,Headed to my house.Later that day
As we pulled up in front of the house I saw Macy, and Dylan standing outside. When my grandpa stopped the car I hopped out and ran into Dylan's arms. He hugged me tightly and lifted me into the air a little. Dylan was like a brother to me, anyone that would mess with me would hear from him later that day for sure.
"Sorry about your parents miki."
He whispered in my ear."Sorry I didn't call you." He whispered again. I gave him a weak smile and pinched his cheek but not too hard. I turned to Macy and gave her a big hug. Macy was my best friend, also known as the my another half and my twin. We did everything together, we were never apart. I missed my best friends so much.
"I missed you bookies, I'm so sorry. she was like my mom too." Macy had said to me.
"Everything's gonna be alright." I replied to her. I was to busy hugging my friends I forgot about Hayes , who was standing behind me with his bag. Dylan looked him up and down in a protective way And Macy just smirked.
"Um.....guys this Is my summer friend Hayes." I extend my arm out towards Hayes. Hayes, shook their hands and said a hello.
"Well it's terrible we had to meet on such an occasion. Mikayla talks about you all the time when she gets back , when she leaves. Just mouth full of Hayes this, Hayes that." Dylan nudge Macy in her side.
"This is Macy, I'm Dylan." He chuckled a little at the end.
"Can we get in the house Philadelphia isn't always that warm." I said as we all walked in the house. While Dylan and Macy were giving everyone hugs, I showed Hayes where he would me sleeping.
"Um..... I put you in the room literally across from mine. So if you need anything ,Walk up these stairs which is behind this door with all this shit on it."I giggled at my comment. Hayes put his bag down on the bed ,and turned to me .
"Can I see your room? And you sleep in the attic?" He raised his eyebrow a bit.
"Uhh.... Yeah I like my own space I just couldn't make too much noise. And we can go up there." I opened the door and walked up the stairs, Hayes followed.
"Wow your room is awesome." Hayes stared in awe at the wooden floor and walls. My bed was pushed up against the window right at the end of the room. My couch and chair I had were white fur that match the rug in the bathroom.
"I mean it's not much but made space." Hayes turned to me with amazement written all over his face.
"My room looks like nothing compared to this. It's perfect and it smells like you." I looked down because I had realized that this room would no longer belong to me. Hayes noticed my quick change in mood and walked over too me.
"Hey what's wrong?" Hayes hands cuffed my face and he bent his legs a little to reach my height.
"It's just I made this room for me I have had it since I was a little girl. Now we have to sell the house, and that includes my room."I had said to him. He gave me those Hayes eyes like they were saying to me 'Mikayla really, you'll be fine you have me' I giggled a little and he smiled back at me.
"There's that smile I love." By saying that it only made me smile more.
"You're so weird Hayes." I playfully punch his shoulder. Hayes grabbed my hand before it could go back to my side.
"Your hands......they're so small."he said putting our hands Palm to palm. Our fingers didn't match up, but when interlocked them anyway. I looked up at Hayes and he leaned forward as if to kiss me. But I couldn't kiss him even though I wanted to I had Shawn back in NC it wouldn't be right. Just then Dylan and Macy walked into the room. In a flash movement me and Hayes jumped apart from each other and stood far apart from each other. Dylan moved closer towards me ,and Macy looked at me with a smile creeping up on the side of her lips.
"This is going to be a long week." She smiled
