Knock.
The sound registered in my ears as I sat on my leather couch.
Knock.
My eyes flitted to my oak door as I stared at it warily.
Knock.
Anxiety bit at my skin and I leaped off the couch, momentarily pausing my train of thought. I knew that if I thought about what I had just done, I would regret it before I even made it halfway to the door.
Kno -
I flung the door open, my free hand propped on my hip. There was something about first glances, and every time I looked at Jason, it was like we shared a moment all over again - like he could see this part of my soul that made me so vulnerable to him. It was almost... Intimate.
"Hey." He broke the silence with a charming smile.
I smiled back, politely. "Hello. Come in." I stepped aside to make room for him to walk through. His eyes widened appreciatively as he stepped in, roaming around the furniture as if he wanted this imprinted into his memory.
I shut the door, hearing the soft click of the lock and turned to face his back, my eyes instantly falling to his ass that looked delightful in the pair of jeans he wore.
"So, this is your home." He said, his voice approving.
I smiled crookedly. "Home sweet home."
"Hmm, so what happened to Gloria's Jeans?" Hen asked, turning to face me. His hair was styled back but managed to look tousled as ever, but his eyes penetrated my gaze.
I licked my lips in anticipation, wringing my fingers together. "I wasn't going to flop on you, I swear. It's just... I made this whimsical breakfast for William, but he left in a rush and never got to eat it. And well, I didn't want to throw it out so..." I trailed, wondering if this was a bad idea after all.
He nodded, a small smile gracing his lips. He cocked his head towards the entrance of the kitchen. "That way?" He asked, taking a step closer.
I nodded, "Yup, come on." I didn't want to admit it, but I felt an instant rush of relief that he hadn't had the same initial reaction as William - but then again, everyone was different, right?
Because he was walking ahead of me, I didn't expect him to stop and stand frozen. And so, I walked right into him and became a sputtering mess of nervous and embarrassed bundles. He turned to look at me, "This food looks fantastic."
My nerves calmed instantly and a smile donned on my lips. "Thank you. Sit, eat!" I handed him a plate and sat down across from him, watching with a smile as he stacked his plate. His gaze met mine and he quirked an eyebrow in amusement and I shrugged.
"You eat so much." I said softly, trying to hide my laughter.
Jason grinned. "I'm a growing man."
My eyebrows rose. "Oh, really?" I questioned dramatically.
He winked at me, "Really, really. In more than one way, too."
My eyes widened at his innuendo and I felt the blood rush to my cheeks. Oh, God this felt all too normal. He didn't seem to notice my pause in the conversation as he carried on.
"Will," he began shaking his head as he chewed on a stack of pancakes. "Will is totally missing out on this meal. I feel like a King."
I wasn't sure why, but my heart warmed at his words and appreciation. "It took me forever to make it all," I sighed, sipping some orange juice.
