I shoved a spare shirt in my glittered duffel bag, attempting to squish it in along with my other thousands of clothes. I struggled to zip it up at first, but I got it done in the end. I walked to the front door and dropped it at a corner for when Jason showed up.
"You were being serious about leaving?" Will asked in surprise. I turned around to see him holding a glass of OJ and in his boxers. I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Of course I was." I answered before thinking about what he said. "And I'm not leaving you, Will. I'm going home to see my family for one night."
Knowing this conversation was headed for a fight, I decided to walk away which apparently turned out to be a bad move. "Don't walk away from me, Charlotte!"
I froze in my spot. "Excuse me?" I asked.
He set his juice down and crossed his arms in what seemed like anger. "You're leaving me-"
I threw my hands up, "Will, I am not leaving you!"
"You are! You're going home and you're leaving me all alone!" He yelled, making me flinch.
I grit my teeth and ran up to him and held my hands out with a force, shoving him down. "Shut the fuck up, Will!"
He stiffened and looked down at me with darkened eyes. "What did you just say to me?" He took a step forward and I took one back.
"N-nothing." His eyes.... They reminded me of something familiar. It scared me.
He smirked. "Alright. You're not going."
My face fell, "What?"
"You heard me."
I scoffed, "You can't tell me what to do -"
"I'm your boyfriend -"
"Not my husband!" I retorted. "So I'll do what I want, thank you very much."
His eyes narrowed at me. "What's so worth about going to see them, anyway?" His eyes were cold and he didn't seem to understand.
I stomped my feet in anger. "Ugh. They're my family!"
He laughed coldly, "They are not your family!"
"Of course they are!"
"No! No, they aren't! She isn't your mother and the kid isn't your sister! They are your ex-boyfriends family! So stop acting like they're yours!"
My eyes widened at his words and I felt an unmistakable anger run through my veins. "Shut the fuck up, you don't know anything!" I yelled in his face.
"You're leaving me for a bunch of fucked up lonely people?" He yelled right back. That did it.
My eyes widened further before narrowing and I didn't think twice before shoving him on his chest, harder this time. "Shut the fuck up, William!" I shrieked.
There was a moment of silence before a loud ripping sound echoed off the walls of his apartment. And then I felt the searing pain. My left cheek stung, and I wanted to laugh at the achingly familiar feeling. Nostalgia filled me and I didn't realize that I was actually laughing.
I stepped back and felt my eyes fill with tears. "You just hit me," I laughed, with my back turned to him. "You knew!" I yelled, my face contorting into anger. "You knew what I've been through! You fucking knew it all!" My shriek was high pitched and filled with venom.
"Charlotte - I -"
I sniffled, trying to hold myself together. I walked to the door, knelt down and grabbed my duffel bag in my hand in silence. "I'll be going now."
