16| Denial In Discretion

Orea awoke with her head pounding, her whole body in discomfort and her heart and ego shattered, she made her way to the  bathroom to clean herself, then she changed her cloth, picked up her bag and exited the room. She left the house without Ceaser's knowledge, when she arrived at Alea's Sweetness, Carol questioned her on why Ceaser wasn't there with her but she said nothing. They started the day. Then Orea told Carol of her problem with Ana.

It had been months yet Ana wasn't picking up her calls or replying her messages. It irked Orea out, she had been trying to wave away the many thoughts she had of what could have happened to her friend. Carol assured her that Ana was fine, that she must have been busy, too busy to even spare her friend a call. She didn't have time to ponder on it as they had lots of work to do, Alea's Sweetness was filled to the brim, soon, Ceaser walked in, a scowl adorning his face yet he didn't make a move to go over to her.

The day went by with Orea stressed to the brim, so stressed that by the time it was nighttime Orea could barely keep her legs from shaking, " we need to hire someone," She informed Carol, " Alea's Sweetness is getting larger and we can't handle it on our own anymore," she stated.

" Yeah, I will put up posters tomorrow," Carol replied to which Orea nodded, the both sat down, their faces exhausted, Carol couldn't even keep her eyes open, " We should go home now, I am tired," Carol yawned, picking up her bag and heading out. " hey, are you and Ceaser fighting?" She questioned, looking at Ceaser who was leaning against his truck.

" No!" Orea lied," I just don't want to be around him," She stood up and followed him, they both locked the shop.

Carol raised a brow yet didn't comment on it, " Goodnight, be careful on your way back," They shared a hug then Carol made her way up the staircase, her house was up while Alea's Sweetness was down. Orea turned to Ceaser who had his hands akimbo as he leaned against the truck, she look away from him and started walking.

"What are you doing?" Ceaser questioned after her, yet she refused to reply him. If he wouldn't respect her then she didn't give a damn about him either. " Orea! "

" Stay away from me!" She commanded, spareing him a glare that had him rooted on his spot.

" you can't go home on your own, it's dangerous to walk alone at this time of the night," he reasoned.

" I am a grown woman, I don't need your help to get home, besides. I can protect myself, stop following after me like a dog. You are a detective, go catch a criminal or something and leave me the hell alone!" She kept walking, not sparing him a glance. Ceaser tried reasoning with her again yet she refused to listen to him, after receiving another snarky comment from Orea, he returned back to his truck to drive behind her. Orea didn't acknowledge him. When she arrived at his house, she headed straight her room and locked the door.

This routine continued for the next one week. " bye," Orea hugged Carol, then she made her way home, Ceaser wasn't behind her with his truck this time around, she was all alone. Orea had not seen Ceaser since she woke up early that morning. The street was quiet as she walked, cold seeped through her clothes to which she had to hug herself, no one was seen as she walked towards piseong domain, the place she now considered home. Orea scowled at the thought.

Her eyes glided around the gloomy street, heart thumping in her chest when she noticed a shadow crawling around a house on her left, it had been long since she spotted one and the sight of it made her steps quicken while she breathed out heavily. Piseong domain was a street away from where she was, there was no one in sight till she noticed someone standing at the front porch of a particular house, he was clad in black clothes, shadows swirling around him, Orea's heart stopped. It... It was the man who had attacked her. The... The serial killer.

Her heart thumped in her chest as he rang the doorbell of someone, she wanted move really... Orea wanted to run yet she couldn't, her eyes stayed glued on him while her feet refused to move. Move! She yelled in her mind. Move you damn feet! Her feet didn't and her gaze didn't look away as the man rang the doorbell again, her hand found her purse as she struggled to breathe. Don't open the door please. She pleased in her mind.

To her horror, the door opened and a cute little kid peeked his head outside. His innocent face adorned with a pout, she couldn't hear what the girl was saying, all she had in mind was saving the child, " No!" She yelled, making the man in black turn around, their gazes met, Orea shuddered yet she was making her way over, tears rolling down her cheek as she ran. " get back in! Get back inside!" She yelled at the child. She had seen the little boy a couple of time. He loved sneaking over to her to ask for mint bread.

" get back inside Philip," She yelled once again and ran over to them, she pushed the serial killer who now hand his hand on Philip's shoulder away, he staggered back, and she pushed him in and locked the door, "Where is your mom?" Philip She questioned the boy, whose brows were furrowed. " where is your Mom damnit?"

" what's going on here?" Teresa asked, looking at Orea. " Orea? Why are you here?"

Orea didn't reply, she headed to window to check if the man was gone, to her surprise, the police had arrived and they were chasing the man, she closed her eyes in relief and turned to Teresa who was tending to her son " you left your son alone!" She yelled, " how could you leave your son alone? you should have kept him with you, what if something had happened to him? What if I had not been there to save him?" She shouted, hands flying in the hair, while Teresa flinched.

" what do you think you are doing Orea? You can just barge into my house and yell at me," Teresa yelled back. This brought Orea back to her senses and she diverted her gaze down, her hand on her chest. The door was knocked on and Teresa went over to open it, " Hey," she greeted her husband, who had Gomez standing beside him, her his husband examined her whole body before diving in for a kiss. " what's wrong?" She questioned.

" Did you open the door to anyone? " her husband questioned.

The rest of their conversation disappeared on Orea as her leg buckled and she fell to the floor, tears rolling down her cheek, had she been any late then... The family wouldn't be untied like that. Sid would have returned to an empty home and dead family. " hey!" She heard Gomez say behind her.

" he was here. H-he was by the door," she couldn't contain her sobs, Gomez hugged her.

" you are okay, we will catch him, Ceaser is after him as we speak," he reassured. Orea remained like that till Ceaser returned, unfortunately he couldn't catch the serial killer, Orea, despite her anger had melted in his arms the moment he engulfed her in a hug. They arrived at the police station, Orea wrapped in his arms as she recalled everything that had happened, Gomez didn't joke like last time. They spent a while working on the case, Orea still wrapped around Ceaser who didn't mind.
