13| His Discretion.

Life is hard! Yes! This is a truth no one dares not to know. No matter what we have, no matter how rich of healthy we are, suffering never ends yet we keep toiling, praying and moving till we have each and every of our heart desires, yet desires never end. Orea sat by her parents grave, her gaze fixed ahead, lips quievering as she sat with them. It had been too long since she visited them. And she couldn't help the of her lips as she cleaned up their now dusty and grass filled grave.

" I will miss you," her heart clenched as she spoke into the wind, clad in a black jacket which she held to herself, her gaze clouded with tears which she refused to let fall. It was her first visit to her parents in a year, the visit had meant to happen on their death anniversary, however it couldn't, not after what happened at the mall hall. So, Orea had spent the past one hour by her parents graveside, with unshed tears in her eyes while she spoke her mind to them till she had nothing more to spare. " Goodbye,"

It was time for her to return, so she stood up, dusted her white trouser and made her way to Ceaser who had made himself comfortable on the seat of his truck, all while his gaze never left her. All through which Orea had a calm washing over her at  the fact that she wasn't there alone. The two exchanged no words as the truck roared to life. " I will make dinner," Orea Informed as she placed her hand bag on the armrest while Ceaser brought in the groceries they had got from the grocery store on their way back

" It's a thank you dinner." She added, noticing his reluctance. He didn't need to reply before Orea got to work, The first thing she did was arrange the the groceries in their places, then she placed the Ingredient on the counter. Ceaser walked out of his room thirty minutes later to the heavenly smell of Orea's cooking. Though it was expected of her to cook a nice food since she was good at baking yet he didn't her food to be so mouthwatering before he even tasted it.

Ceaser stayed by the kitchen door, his gaze following Orea around as she moved around the kitchen, doing a thing or the other, then a picture evaded his mind. Orea cooking just like that while he returned from work and headed straight for her, he'd kiss her pretty head and smile down at her, then he would hold her waist and stay with her as she cooked. " Take a picture, it will last longer," the playful edge in Orea's sass brought him out of his reverie. Ceaser cleared his throat.

" your food smells heavenly," he managed to say, this made Orea smile. A bright smile that had his heart constricting in his chest, then she told him to sit down while she continued with what she had been doing. Dinner was served fifteen minutes later and Ceaser couldn't help but drool as he ate spoons after spoons of her food. " Wow!" That was all he could utter as they packed up the plates to go wash them.

"I am glad you like it," Orea smiled. Once the plates were washed, the two sat together in the living room. Silence filing up their space. Ceaser was busy with paperwork, he had report to work on. Orea on the other hand had her gaze on him, trying to figure out the man she had once disliked. " I have a question,' she couldn't help but say. Ceaser lifted his head and looked at her, his gaze encouraging her to ask away. He wasn't a man of many words! Orea had realized.

" I have many questions to be honest," a chuckle escaped her lips, while her finger played with the ring she never failed to keep on. " I will be living with you for weeks, that is if the culprit is caught faster, if not.... Months, I have to know about you if we are to live together in peace."

Ceaser nodded, not the least surprised by her words, though he held in a chuckle. Her words were right, they needed to learn to be in peace around each other yet... The world peace coming out from her was amusing. " go on. " he soon added.

" My first question is about that day," her voice grew softer. " the day when-" she gulped and looked at his eyes before speaking, " the day when I was attacked.... Why did you cut the call on me?" Ceaser had a hunched where her question was heading to yet... He didn't expect her to ask him that. He wasn't quick to answer. He took his time so as to not say words he would later regret.

" You weren't the only one attacked that night. He had killed two people at Helens street, then we had a report of a dead woman named Mrs Kingsley who was reported to have been dead for... A month now." His words made Orea gasp, it  couldn't be the Mrs Kingsley she thought it was could it? Ceaser who had no idea about her inner turmoil continued with his explanation.

" I was enraged and... I knew I needed to calm down. And the only way to do that was to divert my attention to somewhere else. I decided to call you because... you were the last person who was seen with her before she died. I had cut the call to get ready to head over to your place." Ceaser caressed his neck, eyes looking at the table before he muttered, " I am sorry. I should have kept you on the phone and assured you! I just..." he stopped caressing his neck, his gaze clouded by a look Orea would never in million years have expected to see in those eyes.

His gaze was clouded in pain, his jaw clenched as he refused to let it show, then he spoke words that made Orea's heart break, " I was in shock to be honest... The way you," he closed his eyes, " the way you had spoken that day reminded me of my sister, she... She was murdered in our house and... I couldn't.... I couldn't save her. " when his eyes opened again, they were clouded in tears, Ceaser offered her a smile. " I was too occupied with the thought of saving you to even think of anything else,"

Tears trailed down Orea's cheek but she made no move to clean them, her gaze fixed on Ceaser, knowing how hard it was to deal with the death of a loved one, especially if you could have saved them but couldn't. Orea had thought so many time of how she could have saved her parents but didn't. She could have told them of the shadows she saw yet she didn't. She was the reason for her parents death and she would never forgive herself for it... Never!

"It's not your fault!" She whispered to a smiling Ceaser who inturn shook his head. She wanted to know more yet didn't want to pry, and Ceaser didn't seem to want to say more than that. This left Orea speechless, so she changed the topic instead. " how about you tell me more about yourself. Your likes, dislikes. I would like to know more if I am to live with your boring ass and not murder you," this earned her a laugh from Ceaser who obliged without a thought. They spent all night getting to know more about each other.
