23| Lucian in Discretion.

Orea arrived at Alea's Sweetness the nest morning, eyes twinkling as she returned to her favorite place once again, " Ah, it's good to be back." She stated, taking in the smell of coffee, sugar and cookies. Customers were already seated by the tables, chatting their time away as they awaited their order, Orea caught a whiff of an unfamiliar face by the counter. Without much thought, she headed over to her little kitchen to start making the orders. Carol appeared beside her, beaming as she greet Orea.

" Good morning! How was your night?" She chirped, making Orea chuckle.

" someone is in a good mood today." Her leg carried her further with Carol walking in sync beside her, "Care to tell me what's making you all jittery?" She questioned, brow raised as she glanced Carol.

"Well, we have two workers, I have already interviewed them, all that's left is your approval." Carol replied, hands in her apron pocket as she spoke.

"Oh, I see how it is, your man is here." Orea stated, receiving a blush from her friend in response, a chuckle tore itself out of her mouth as she shook her head, they arrived by the counter where a lady stood, clad in a jean and pink hoodie.

"This is Avaline, she will be working as the waitress from now on, what do you think?" Carol inquired, Orea looked Avaline up and down, there wasn't really much wrong with the girl yet she had to make sure.

"Hi," Avaline gave Orea a little wave of her hand to which Orea nodded in reply.

"Come with me." Her words were barely out of her mouth before she disappeared into a door that led to the storage room,"So, why did you seek out this job?" She questioned, her eyes assessing the girl before her whose face was now clear for her to see, she was a beauty, a striking one. That was all she noticed except her dirt brown eyes which shone with innocence, an innocence that could only belong to a child.

Avaline let out a deep breath, "I need a job urgently to pay up my abuelas hospital bill,"

Orea hummed, "Your age?"

"19"

There was a few moment of silence, all through which Avaline drew circles on the table she sat, while Carol leaned back, rolling her eyes at Orea who had her eyes on the girls resume."Okay." Avaline released a shaky breath. "You are hired, you can begin work tomorrow, I trust you have been informed of the pay and have agreed to it?" Avaline nodded. "Good, you can go." Once the girl was out the door, Orea leaned back and Carol snorted.

"Look at you being all bossy."

"Aren't I the boss? Of course I have to be bossy, now hey back to work before I reduce your pay."

" Okay Okay," Carol held her hands up. "I shouldn't have allowed you take the boss position." She announced, fixing Orea a glare that didn't last more than a second due to the smile tugging at her lips.

" Whatever, just get out." It took a few moments of bickering before the two got to work. "This boyfriend of yours, when will he arrive for the interview?" Orea questioned.

"Soon, he said he got caught up on the way, he will be here soon," Once Orea got her reply, she nodded and returned to what she had been doing all along, the day was so hectic that they didn't have the chance to chit chat, by evening after many of the customer had left, a man walked into the shop, Orea's recognized before he even headed her way, she stiffened, breath uneven as he headed over to the counter.

"Can I help you?" She questioned, gaze hardened despite the possibility that he could be there as a customer, a squeal interrupted them before she could speak further, Orea caught a whiff of Carol's back before the collided with Lucian, her hands wrapping around his neck.

" Lucian!" She exclaimed, "What took you so long? I thought you wouldn't come anymore." Her chide went on, so did her voice, oblivious to the dropping temperature of the room or the breathe of her friend which had turned irregular or the gaze if Lucian which refused to look away from Orea. Carol pulled away from Lucian only then did he look at her. " there is someone you need to meet." She stated, turning to face Orea, hand in Lucian's.

"I... Is he who I think he is?" Orea questioned once she regained a little of her bearing to which she received a eager nod from her friend, Orea's shoulders slumped at the revelation, " hi Lucian, we meet again." She stated, forcing out a smile.

"Yeah, hi Orea." He responded, a grin breaking through lips and lifting up his face.

"You guys know each other?" Carol's gasp brought Orea out of her thoughts.

"Yeah, he is Ana's brother." Orea offered.

"Oh," The air weighed heavy on them before Carol clasped her hand together. "Let's begin the interview then."

Orea nodded, the interview was simple, Orea asked him the same question he asked Adeline to which he replied that he wanted to experience what's it was like to work with them. Once the interview was over, Orea didn't spend a minute more around him before she headed out of the shop, there stood Ceaser, his arms folded against his biceps as he leaned against his truck. "Hey." She greeted.

"Hey." Ceaser smiled, drawing her in for a kiss, he led her to his car and opened the door for her before he made his way to his own side. "How was your day?" The car roared to life as he awaited her answer, her teeth grazed her lip while her hand played with the ring on her finger, something he had noticed she did way to many times. "Did something happen?" He returned his attention to the road.

"I met Lucian." He didn't miss the bitterness in her quiet voice. " He is Carol's boyfriend, now I get to see him every single day." Her eyes glanced out the window at the end of her words and Ceaser said nothing so as to maintain the silence, that was until Orea tensed. "Stop the car!" She yelled, her pupils dilating as she held onto the windshield, the moment the car came to a halt, she was out the door, running towards a house at the other end of the streets, a reasoning flying out of her mind at the scene before her.

When she came to a halt, her whole body shook in horror, no tears in her eyes as she looked at the dead girl laying by her door step, as the car moved, Orea had caught wind of the serial killer, the shadows around him made him unmistakable, neither did the bloodied knife he held in his hand, she could almost hear the squelch of iron tearing into skin as he drove it straight into the girls neck. "Oh My God!" Her hand covered her open mouth, as her body moved Closer to the scene. Numb.

The girl was a girl in her twenties, Orea had never seen the girl before yet. "H-he killed h... her.... She is... D...dead!" She confirmed, taking her hand away from the girls neck. The serial killer had fled the scene. He had gotten bolder, killing at evening time and in the open, her nose flared, hands fisted in a ball as her gaze hardened. He needed to be found, he needed to be detained, killed, whatever it was that was done to murderers like that. Orea cradled the girl and laid her on her own lap, eyes empty as she looked ahead.

He needed to be captured.
