24| Crimson Discretion. What was expected to be a peaceful day had been turned into a bloody one, to many had died in the span of just six months, the town was turning disposte, each houses had lost someone close them, either their neighbors daughter or friend, foe or family. The name of the dead girl was Ana Maria, she was a bubbly beauty in the entire town, lots of people attended the funeral, even going out of their way to make sure it was the best, lots of people couldn't hold in their tears including Orea.
If she could, she hunt down that disgusting piece of bloody crap and torture him to death. Her body wouldn't stop shaking since the moment it all happened, Alea's Sweetness had been closed down for the mean time, they offered pastries for the funeral, and even went out of their way to prepare the foods for the guest. This meant that she had too much to do. Unfortunately, working meant she had to see Lucian again and it wasn't helping that his sister had decided to be a bitch and stop speaking to her.
She even stopped picking Orea's call, she had tried getting in context with her boss who informed her that Ana stopped coming to work a month ago. The same a month ago, Orea remembered receiving a call from Liliana, when she picked it up, Ana said nothing. Gomez was back on his feet, he wouldn't stop teasing her or calling her Firefox, but the light atmosphere had been sucked out of the air.
The town people, though aware of the happening weren't careful before. However, after the incident with Ana Maria everyone realized just how bad it is and they started taking precautions, curfews began, at least till the threat was apprehended and police began to patrol the secluded areas and places, not a place left unattended.
However, all this meant Ceaser would be busy and he wouldn't return till midnight, even then he would work till dawn before heading to bed, there was too much chaos, too much unrest until-- finally. The killer was apprehended, it was the suniest afternoon they had gotten in days, Orea sat by the lawn, gaze fixed ahead as she awaited nothing in particular, her heart had been thumping in her chest all day.
Sleep refused to come and the shadows seeping into her window wasn't making it any better. Neither did the small cut on her finger that had now been cleaned, since she didn't feel right, she had opted to make herself something, but decided to go for coffee first, halfway through it, she hit the mug with her hand and it fell, Orea groaned, muttering curses before moving to clean the mess, the moment her had touched the glass, she was cut, her crimson blood rushing out as if trying to escape her body.
After cleaning the wound, she had opted for seating by the lawn, there a old, chair was placed. As she sat there, she thought of the history of the house, the many killer it had seen, the many bodies it had held, the many death it had witnessed, sighing, she willed her eyes close only to snap it open again at the ringing of her phone, with heart thumping, she picked it up. "H-hello."
She cringed at the way she sound, there was silence on the other line for a while before Ceaser spoke. "We got... We got the killer." He didn't sound right, there was no excitement, no joy in his voice, Orea could help but wince, even she had no happiness in her, having witnessed what the killer had done, Orea didn't care anymore, all she wanted was to not experience another ghastly sight like that.
"Okay." She replied, voice quiet, there was more silence on the other line and Orea frowned... Did he have more to say?
"Orea.." he began, but stopped," You need to see this."
Orea slowed, throat parched and dried. Just how long had she been sitting outside the house, immobile? "I... I don't kno-" Orea cut herself up, brows hunching together in thought. "Is there something you are not telling me?" Silence. She pushed herself up, heart thumping as she made for the house. "Say something." She snapped, only to be met with silence.
Ceaser sighed. "We were tipped of my a Town folk about an unusual activity so we traced and investigated, we found out who the killer is, where she lives and her next move... The, the killer was caught when she was about to dispose of a body... and... The body was taken to be forensic to be identified- I love you, you know that right? Orea, we found out that this one has been killed for a while now..." he went silent once again, and it took everything in Orea not to scream at him to continue, this was not good.
"Whose body did they find and why are you sounding like that? Besides, why do you keep referring to the killer as a she?" She managed to lock the door before bolting down to the driveway for her car, one she had not driven in days. "Answer me Ceaser, stop being a fucking idiot. I don't need your shit at this moment, juts say it. Who is it?!" She all but yelled.
"It was... Orea it was Liliana." The car suddenly skidded to a stop, the phone fell from her hand as she hit her head on the steering wheel yet the pain did nothing to lessen the one in her heart, her lips tumbled as she lifted her head, no tears, no emotions. The world was a blur as she stared ahead, it was only Ceaser's continuous question that got her to move, she didn't bother to check the car as she got off it.
Her body helped her pick her bag and lock the door before she started to walk, abandoning the car on the road, it was impossible, Why would Liliana be dead? They were fighting, it was a fight Orea always won. "This must be a prank." Her whisper disappeared with the harsh wind. Orea had no idea how far or long she walked before Ceaser's truck apraed in her vision, he walked out of the car. No words spoken as he opened the door for her.
She couldn't, wouldn't believe it, Why would Liliana be dead? She still had to slap her for refusing to speak to her for months, Orea still had to insult her for having so many frizzes in her hair, she still had to comment on her new boyfriend, no! Liliana had not said anything about leaving. It couldn't be true, Liliana was not dead... She.
Beside her, Ceaser sat, glancing her way once in a while, he had only told her of one news, how would she react when she finds out the identity of the culprit? He never really spoke with Liliana but from what he had heard, she was a harsh woman yet she had the biggest heart, she was a good person, a good friend to Orea. This wouldn't be easy.
