Chapter 8 || Pressure
•••

After gathering all she needed for her apartment to live comfortably until next payday, Ace sat herself on the couch with her stack of Kakashi books. The bag of books she had received in the hospital from her favourite ninja.

She had flipped through a couple of them during her injured era, figuring out basic information about the lands geographically. But she quickly got bored and moved on to one of the fiction books. Something she was almost starting to regret so close to her placement test.

Since she had her test quite shortly, the time honoured tradition of cramming every ounce of information she could in the last few hours stood the cross-universal test.

There were three books about ninja information bundled into the bag, one about Chakra, one about ninja tactics and weaponry and a final one about the relations of the nations and wars that had occurred.

All of them sounded tedious to read through and boring.

She wished desperately that she had a tv to play in the background while she worked, but unfortunately she was left to her own devices. No music, no background videos absolutely nothing but the book in front of her, and the notepad she had picked out to take notes in.

She flipped open the first one sadly, skimming the text written out for her. It was all about Chakra and what it actually was.

Her eyes skimmed past the information at rapid speeds, absorbing the bare essentials she would need to come to her own full conclusions.

Five basics types— each with their own strengths and weaknesses— Yin and Yang— Physical and Spiritual—

She breezed through the basics, before stopping on a chapter that caught her eye

Handsigns and basic Jutsu
The starting point for all Ninja in their journey

That kind of starting point was exactly what she needed, something from the absolute basics.

She stared at the graph of common hand signs carefully, attempting to weave her own hands to match the diagrams. The movements were foreign to her, having never really used her hands and fingers so intricately before.

Slowly she figured out the signs for a simple clone, one of the first basic Jutsu that was listed inside.

She practiced each of the signs carefully, before finally trying them all together.

She wove through each sign easily, closing her eyes and feeling the movements. Finishing the sequence with a solid collision of her hands.

Her arms buzzed with an energy she had still yet to get used to, running up and down her arms like a river. She knew now from the book that this was chakra, and the pinprick points she felt were her chakra gateways.

The buzzing sensation hung in the air for several seconds, as if stuck at the last step of the clone Jutsu, vibrating gently in her hands. The pressure brimming against her fingertips begging to be let loose.

She opened her eyes in confusion, how exactly was she supposed to make it come out of her hands?

She sighed as she realised just how long of a study session it was going to be.
