Chapter 1 || Ouch—— ⍟ ——
Burning, a blinding burning pain seeped through her, throbbing and swishing, boiling in her very core. She was cold and damp, but the pain was so very sharp and hot.
She wanted to scream, but she choked on the weight of it in her throat the smell of smoke filling her brain with alarm bells. Her arm, that smoke was the smell of her arm being seared, that was the smell of her being near cooked alive.
It hurt, Never in her life had she felt so much pain.
The sound of a splash in the distance helped her to hear the flow of the river she had collapsed next to.
Where's the wind and rain?
She blinked her eyes open roughly, blinded by the bright blue of the sky and the sun shining. This wasn't right, how long had she been laying down?
The world spun around her and bright star like spots danced in her vision in a nauseating taunt, forcing her to close her eyes once again to save herself from losing the contents of her stomach
She struggled to form thoughts, the rain was supposed to last all week, had she been shocked into a coma? What about her brother, her parents, didn't they come looking for her?
Her brain spins.
River? We don't live near any rivers?
"Hey I think I see something!" A voice echoes in the distance, doing nothing to ease the growing headache and nausea. Ringing around her skull with a sharp haziness she couldn't even begin to describe
She was still coughing, choking back sobs. She couldn't move.
"Woah! Is that a person?!" Someone else exclaims, much louder than the last. Their voices sound closer now, clearer.
gathering all of the will power she can muster, she opened her eyes for another moment, blurry shadows hovering over her, a bigger figure and a smaller one leaning.
"Excuse me!" "Miss?" "Wake up!"
Her eyes fall closed again as she winces, opening her mouth to try and speak, to ask for help, to get someone to relieve her pain, anything.
"He-" another sputter wreaks her body "help-" she begs desperately.
She doesn't dare move, the muscles in her left arm were aching, the burning seeping down into her bones. It was agonising.
She opens her mouth to speak again but a wave of pain crashes through her arm once more. Only a pathetic grunt is left as her world fades back into the darkness, relaxing as she falls back into oblivion.
"Hospital- Immediately."
These are the last words she manages to hear before she loses herself to exhaustion and pain again.

When Ace wakes up again she's numb, blissfully numb, as if her body no longer existed
She sluggishly opens her eyes, finding herself set up in a plain white room the sunlight setting through the window casting an orange hue over everything inside. Her vision tilted a little to begin with, almost making her want to close her eyes again, but she kept them open anyways, finding it a lot better than how she had woken up last.
two men stood at the door discussing quietly, but once the older one noticed Ace had opened her eyes he nudged the younger man gently, nodding in her direction
