Two hours.

They'd been at the mechanic for two hours trying to get Stiles’ jeep fixed. This was Stiles' version of a distraction and why Skylar had hoped would be a quick thing had turned into a tiring situation. Especially now that Stiles was arguing with the mechanic and only making the price to fix the car more.

“Are you kidding?” Stiles exclaimed. “This thing doesn't even have a catalytic converter. And yes I know what a catalytic converter is.”

The mechanic stopped and turned to Stiles. “You know what a limited slip differential is?”

    Stiles paused. “Uh…no.”

“Yeah, could run you more like fifteen hundred,” the mechanic replied before turning back to what he was doing. This had been going on for ten minutes, Stiles complaining about the price and the man just using it.

Skylar glanced at her brother and gave an annoyed sigh before grabbing the mechanic's wrist And smiling. “Hi, it seems you've made an error.”

The guy eyed her up and down and grinned. “And what's that sweetheart?” It was the type of grin that made Skylar feel like her sweater was an itty bitty crop top.

Sky had to keep herself from scowling. “To install a new start part and labor should only be a third of what you're charging,” Sky pointed out. “And a limited-slip differential is a type of differential gear train that helps a car maintain traction on slippery surfaces by allowing the wheels to rotate at different speeds.” She smiled at his shocked face and flipped her hair over her shoulder. “So I'd appreciate it if you installed that starter and My brother and I could get going. Sweetheart.”

She grabbed Stiles and pulled him towards the waiting room and away from the mechanic's stunned eyes. Stiles stared at his sister, surprised. She'd done a lot of impressive things but that was by far the most. “How do you know that?”

Sky shrugged. “I dated a car guy. Honestly, I could've probably installed that starter better than that idiot is going to.”

Stiles shook his head and grabbed the door handle before pulling his hand away in disgust. “Nice. Real sanitary. Quality establishment you're running here!”

Sky touched the goop before sniffing it and pulling it from her face quickly. “It smells like burnt lizard.” She wiped the goop on her jeans and stepped into the waiting room will Stiles following. She stepped over to the vending machine. “Hey, you want a soda?” No response. “Stiles?”

She glanced at her brother and noticed him frozen, staring at his phone. He dropped his phone and stared at his hands. “Sky, I can't feel my hands.” He looked out the window and froze. “Oh. Hey. Hey!”

Sky moved to run over to see what was happening but instead, her legs gave out and she hit the floor with a thud. She couldn't move.

“Skylar!” Stiles gasped before looking out the window. “Hey!” He went to move as well before falling to the ground. Stiles inched towards his phone before dialing something slowly.

Sky could hear the mechanics' pleas. She felt helpless as she listened. She couldn't even save him, she just had to listen as he pleaded for help. She heard the thud and crunch signifying his death. Then an inhuman hiss that sent a shiver through her unmoving body.
