"There are some new developments in regards to the murder of Montesano native Adam Underwood who was killed three days ago in his apartment at the Trump Tower building. The police have arrested his wife Amelia Underwood on the suspicion that she murdered him after having an affair with Adam Underwood's former boss multi-millionaire Mason Kane CEO of Kane Securities. Police believe Underwood murdered her husband after being confronted about the affair.  According to authorities, it was an apparent crime of passion and they have sufficient evidence to believe she acted alone. Underwood made an initial appearance in court this morning to face a second-degree murder charge and if convicted, she could face life in prison. Underwood adamantly denies both the affair and killing her husband. Her attorney is confident the case will be dismissed. Their family and friends are all still reeling from the loss but are also now in shock over the arrest." They panned to an older woman labeled family friend after showing the Montesano welcome sign. Dressed in a mauve skirt and blazer, Mason imagined she dolled herself up specifically for the interview. He even guessed she approached them to speak probably telling them all the scandalous lies they love to hear and air. He would know, he owned a couple of news stations.

"Her grandmother would be so disappointed. She's probably rolling in her grave. But if you want to know my opinion, it doesn't surprise me. She was extremely sheltered and I'm sure in that new city and with that sinful man. Temptation doesn't discriminate I tell ya. It makes me sad because I always thought she was a Godly woman."

Mason turned off the television before throwing the remote across the room. He listened numbly to the sound of it shattering before he poured himself some more whiskey. A burn tore through his chest and he couldn't drink enough to rid it. It grew with every passing minute, every second he thought of Amelia in a jail cell. He couldn't visit. It would only fuel the rumors now circling and becoming more flagrant with each passing mouth. She also preferred he stay away but per Amelia fashion told his mother that she didn't want to cause any more trouble for him. He left his office and rounded the hallway to the kitchen before stepping out into the cool October weather. His hands shaking, he peered over the metal railing feeling smaller than the people walking beneath him. It was a first for him. Everything about her was a first for him and he couldn't help but resent her for it.

"Mason." His father's voice sounded from behind him.

"She needs you." He added. "You're all the poor girl has left."

"I'm not fucking suicidal."

"You didn't kill him."

"I might as well have." Mason spun then as he threw the tumbler at his father.

"This is all your fucking fault! You and your fucked up shit. I don't know how to fucking love someone." He punched his father who stumbled back wiping at the blood of his lip without much notice. Surprisingly, his father just stood there and took another punch before Mason moved to the dining room table. He threw chairs, broke them and smashed the glass of his stupid fucking modern furniture that cost more than a car and then he moved to the kitchen. Shards that caught light also penetrated his feet, red stained his floor, and that piercing rage, that out of control feeling crashed wave after wave. He trembled beneath the weight of his guilt.

"Let him be." His father told Taylor who rushed in at the commotion.

"She doesn't need me! How could you say that? I'm the worst fucking thing for her!"

"We'll get her out."

"To bring her back to what? Everyone has turned on her! I don't give a shit about my stock prices dropping or my reputation. They can fucking have me. I deserve it but she doesn't!" He yelled.  Breathless, he could only put his hands up in surrender submitting to the out of control feeling plaguing him.
