Kerissa POV
I quickly left the cafeteria, annoyed I was. I sometimes just don't understand myself, why Shirley's presence made me annoyed and I just can't stand her for no real reason. Heck, I don't even remember how this so called rivalry started when we don't even have anything to compete over.
If both of us played the same sports, then maybe a rivalry would've made sense. But that's not the case at all. We're from different departments, different years, play different sports, don't even like the same person. It's confusing to myself as well. But one thing is for sure, I can't stand the way how nice she is to Arin and she also, reciprocates the gestures to her.
On the way back home, I decided to head to Naomi's bakery. One place where I find complete peace. Of course, I did expect to see her there, but something seemed off.
"Casandra, is something wrong? You look stressed " I asked as she looked stressed while rubbing her temples.
"You see that Karen over there? " she pointed to that someone else. "Yeah I do, why? " ,I realized it was Ellen
"Just do anything to kick her out! " she said making me confuse. " Did she do anything wrong or? "
"She has been here for like the past 15 minutes which is more than enough for her to get on my nerves " she replied, sounding really frustrated. "What did she do anyways? " I asked, my voice rather filled with confusion. I know that people barely like her because of how bitchy she is but I just can't kick a customer out just like that.
"First, she ordered coffee, then when it was served to her she said she ordered tea latte and started to throw bad comments at me. Then again when the tea latte was served, she only took one sip of it and spitted it on the floor saying it was not up to her taste " I listened attentively and I could image how bad the situation went. "Damn, she could've been atleast considerate "
"That's not even the full story. She then gave me the most pick me face that I could literally tell, she's a damn spoilt brat" she explained really frustrated. "But we order and pay at the same time in the counter right? " I asked confused.
"The audacity of her to say 'I'll only pay if the drinks are good here ' " she answered while mimicking what the Karen had said. "If the damn drinks are not good or whatever up to her expectations, why bother coming anyways? "
"Exactly- oh look she's leaving " I said.
"Won't you pay? "Cassandra asked as she walked passed us but stopped, turning to her with a smirk.
"Well, the drinks here are not up to my expectations and I'm never coming here ever again " Ellen said sarcastically but soon died down when Casandra stated with a smirk, "Not up to your expectations or that you're too broke to even afford this? "
"Broke?!! I can literally buy your small shop and this whole neighborhood and can still be as rich " Elly fumed then slammed 100$ on the counter and stormed out of the bakery, while I just stood beside the counter witnessing the situation.
"I should've brought popcorn along with me " I commented which earned a chuckle from Casandra. "Yeah, you should've "
"By the way, don't you have classes? Like its not even 11 yet " she asked with a confused tone. "I have an off today but we had to meet up at uni for some practical and I left because of a foul mood "
"Care to explain why? " she suggested, even though she's busy working making coffee and whatnot.
"Shirley " I answered, now sitting behind the counter.
"What did she do this time? " she asked still having her back faced towards me.
"Well, she was talking to Arin in such a lovely way, on top of that Arin did the same way so, I got irritated and just told why their talking so lovey-dovey to each other then we started arguing yet again. And the audacity of her to tell me that I'm just jealous that she doesn't talk to me in that way! " I rambled to her while she only chuckled and shook her head. She turned to me and leaned on the counter.
