Chapter 5- "you cannot be serious"

~Ariana~

"Ugh social studies first thing" Natalie groaned as she closed her locker.
We squeezed through the busy crowds of people to class.
Second day of torture, and even worse we had social studies with Miss Kelly, she's that teacher who's always too happy.. I mean who can be that happy first thing in the morning.
We got to our class just as they were going in, Nat and I split our ways as I sat at the back of the class beside the window.

Miss Kelly had her back to the board scribbling down something.
My brother and his friends walked in laughing, Miss Kelly shot them a look to quieten down, they muffled their laughs and hustled over to their seats.

Calum sat two seats across me.
I could feel his hateful eyes glaring at me, so I turned and faced out the window.

"Welcome back class, it's good to start a new year, so let's get straight into it" Miss Kelly practically sang her words.
I rolled my eyes
"This year we'll be doing group project work in pairs"

Yay, note the sarcasm.

"All the girls will pick out a boy from this hat" Miss Kelly smiled as she brought out a black hat, filled with what I'm guessing the names of the boys.

"This year we'll be doing baby projects!" She claimed happily
The whole class groaned, making Miss Kelly form a confused face.

"C'mon guys it'll be fun, it'll prepare you for the future, besides its a doll" she said as she picked up a baby doll from a basket, it's head sat limply on its shoulder.

I mentally prepared myself to tolerate whoever I picked out of the hat.

I looked over at Natalie.
She had already picked hers.
I sent her a curious glance.
She looked proud.
Chance Hills she mouthed.

I would be proud too.
Chance Hills was one of the top ten good looking guys in our year. Natalie always got the good stuff. I sighed as Miss Kelly came closer.

It was my turn.
I picked up a crumbled piece of paper and gave Miss Kelly a sad smile.
I opened it
Calum Hood it read.

Oh my fuck.
"You cannot be serious" I stuttered
I rolled my eyes and mentally shot myself.
Miss Kelly gave me a small smile, oh great she felt sorry for me.
"Calum you will be with Ariana, go sit beside your partner " she said softly.
I winced at the word partner.

Natalie had her mouth shut open. I made eye contact with her and she gave me a sad look. I was really dreading this.

Calum had his mouth open too, he looked pissed I looked at him, and he gave me a smirk. Ugh.

He got up and walked towards me grabbing a random chair as he pulled it beside my table.
I crossed my arms on the table and looked out the window. I could feel Calum's eyes looking at me. I was trying my best not to look at him, because if I did I would probably punch him.

As the other groups talked among themselves. Calum and I sat in silence.

After what seemed like two hours the bell rang, I got up and grabbed my bag to leave. Social studies now became my least favourite class.
A hand grabbed my arm and turned me around.
"Ugh let go off me" I groaned struggling to get out of Calum's strong hands
"Don't struggle babe" he said, his voice was thick.
I flinched at the word babe
"What do you want?" I asked as I pulled away from his grasp and running my wrist.
"I'll come over to yours  after school" he says looking past me and to the door
"Ugh fine" I rolled my eyes as he pushed the baby to me and walked away.

This was going to be a disaster I could feel it.

I walked out the class meeting up with Natalie.

I was dreading the day being over.
