The village was quiet, unnervingly so. Even the birds had stopped chirping as if the world itself was holding its breath. Rani felt the unease creeping over her as she walked back to her small mud house, her basket of herbs in hand. The soft giggles of her two sons, Ashwin and Yudhav, waiting for her at home were her only solace. But today, even that comfort felt fragile.

As she approached the hut, the weight of unseen eyes pressed on her. She turned sharply, her heart racing, but saw nothing in the shadows. Shaking her head, she tried to calm her nerves. Maybe it was the lingering fear after the saint’s ominous warning about the dark figure who wanted her and her sons.

Little did she know, this was the day her past would crash into her present.

Rani froze as the crunch of footsteps echoed behind her. Turning, she was met with a sight that made her blood run cold. There they stood, emerging from the forest like specters from a haunting dream: Karn, Yudhishthir, Arjun, Bheem, Nakul, Sahadev, Duryodhan, Dushasan, Ashwathama, Vikarna, and Yuyutsu.

Each of them looked different—hardened, colder, as if their very souls had been forged into steel. Their eyes burned with emotions she couldn’t fully read—anger, betrayal, longing, and something far darker.

“Rani,” Arjun said, his voice low and cutting, but it sent shivers down her spine.

She stepped back instinctively, her hand clutching the basket tightly. “What… what are you doing here? "

Duryodhan’s lips curled into a smirk, though there was no warmth in it. “You’ve been hiding from us, haven’t you?”
