This whole mess started because I had to get up to pee. No I'm not trying to be smart or coy. If I would have stayed in bed just a few more minutes or an hour everything would have turned out differently. If I had not gotten up and walked to the bathroom and heard a stranger's voice down stairs or more precisely I would not have heard my name. If I had stayed in bed I wouldn't have gone down stairs and met Steve.

Well enough with the 'what ifs'. I went down stairs and followed the sound of voices and my name to the kitchen. The sound of my footsteps abruptly stopped all conversations, never a good sign. I walked into the kitchen, and stopped died in my tracks. The man sitting in my usual seat at the table looked like a freaking mountain! He was huge. The man flashed a hundred watt smile and said in a deep voice that didn't seem to fit him at all "Hi Alex I'm Steve, can we talk?"

Well he was cute I'll give him that. He had sandy blonde hair and baby blue eyes. His teeth were shockingly white and straight. And he was really tan too. But I had a bad feeling about him. "Um, sure." I said smartly

"How about you have a seat" He said. My parents were looking at me expectantly, probably mentally willing me to not say something smart aleck. Well fifteen years with me and they still haven't learned their lesson, tsk tsk. "Well Steve, I'm hungry and I haven't had my cereal fixation yet, so talk if you must but I'm getting me some Captain Crunch." I wasn't that rude so kudos to me! I walked to the cabinet and made me a bowl of cereal. No one said anything until I sat at the table. Since Steve had my seat I sat at Richards, my four year old 'autistic' brother. And I say 'autistic' because he's not; my parents just think he is. I don't think so because he talks to me and that's it. He says it's because he doesn't trust them my parents and Laya, (who are the only people he knows because my parents are, and always have been, ashamed to have him).

"O.K. Alexandra-"

"Alex." I interrupted. I hate it when people call me by my real name. He cleared his throat, clearly annoyed; I smirked and continued to eat my Crunch. I didn't know if I was in trouble or not, but I love giving people a hard time, especially grown up-think-they-know-it-alls. I had a feeling I knew what this was about though.

See a few weeks ago I overheard my parents saying they didn't want the responsibility of a mentally challenged kid (as they so sensitively put it) and a smart-aleck pain in the butt fifteen year old anymore. Then they said that they could probably get them to take a four year old but not a fifteen year old away. You thinking what I'm thinking? Well in case you're not, I'm thinking this guy was here to take me away.

"Alex we are going to be taking you to a special school. One that can better fit your personality" said Steve. O.K I'll admit I did not see that coming. I'm homeschooled so it's not like I caused trouble with my teachers or get in fights. Well unless you count arguing none stop with my hateful parents and kicking my Ti Kwon Do instructors' butt. I dropped my spoon and looked up at him.

"What?"

"Were going to-"

"Yeah, yeah I heard that. I'm not deaf. What do you mean, I haven't done anything wrong!" I said, proud that my voice was steady at least, even though I was shaking.

"It's not a reform school. You are very special and unique. We're just going to take you to a school where you can more develop you skills."

"Dude this is NOT x-men! What about my brother?"
