Three Years Later

ABHIMANYU'S POV:

It had been three blissful years since Akshara and I welcomed our twins, Ayansh and Anaya, into the world. Life had transformed into a beautiful chaos. Ayansh, our mischievous, playful little boy, was always up to some kind of trouble, while Anaya, his twin sister, was the drama queen of the house, ruling our hearts with her antics. And then there was Abhir, our 13-year-old, who had matured into a responsible and protective elder brother, handling his siblings with a mix of care and amusement.

This morning, as the sunlight peeked through the curtains, I found myself in a familiar yet serene moment. Akshara was still asleep, her hand resting protectively on Ayansh, who was nestled into her chest, his small fists clutching her shirt even in his sleep. On the other side of the bed, Anaya was curled up against me, her tiny arms draped over my chest as she slept soundly.

I smiled, careful not to disturb the peace. With soft steps, I slipped out of bed, ensuring not to wake Anaya. I freshened up quickly, then tiptoed into Abhir's room.

"Wake up, champ," I whispered, gently nudging him.

"Two more minutes, Papa," he mumbled, burying his face into the pillow.

"Come on, Abhir. Remember, you promised to help your siblings get ready for breakfast today," I teased.

He groaned but eventually sat up, rubbing his eyes. "Fine, I'm up. But you owe me extra pancakes for this."

"Deal," I chuckled, ruffling his hair.

By the time Abhir was dressed and ready for school, I returned to the bedroom, where I heard the soft voice of my princess calling out.

"Pa...pa..." Anaya's sleepy voice reached me, melting my heart as always.

I turned to see her rubbing her eyes with her small palms, a pout forming on her lips. I walked over to her, scooping her up in my arms. She immediately wrapped her tiny arms around my neck and rested her head on my shoulder, her soft curls tickling my cheek.

"Good morning, my little princess," I whispered, pressing a kiss to her head.

She yawned and murmured in her baby voice, "Paa...pa, you know what? In my dream, a squirrel came and woke me up."

I raised an eyebrow, amused. "A squirrel woke you up?"

She nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, and I said to him, 'Okay, squirrel bro, I'll wake up.' Then I woke up and saw you."

I couldn't hold back my laugh. "Wait, wait... you called the squirrel 'bro'? That's interesting, considering you don't even call your brother Ayansh 'bro.'"

Anaya giggled, hiding her face in my chest. "Ayansh isn't a squirrel, Papa. He's just Ayansh."

Just then, Ayansh woke up, stretching dramatically. "I heard that, Anaya! I'm going to tell Mumma you called a squirrel 'bro' but not me!" he teased.

Akshara, who had been listening with a sleepy smile, intervened. "Alright, you two. Let your Papa handle this, and come here, my little troublemaker," she said, pulling Ayansh into a warm hug.

The morning started as usual, with me getting Anaya and Ayansh out of bed to brush their teeth. Trust me, convincing a three-year-old and her twin brother to do something as basic as brushing is harder than explaining complex medical theories. After a mini negotiation session, they finally relented.
