The underground base beneath Starcourt Mall was like a labyrinth of dimly lit corridors, lined with metallic walls that reverberated with the low hum of machines in the background. Steve, Jules, Dustin, Robin, and Erica were crouched together behind a locker, their hearts pounding in their chests. Every footstep echoed louder as they listened intently, holding their breath, as the guards made their rounds down the hallway.

Jules, eyes focused, was the first to stir, signaling with her finger to her lips, a silent command for the others to stay quiet. She was the calm in the midst of their nervous energy, her movements slow and deliberate. With practiced ease, she shifted her weight, preparing herself to make a move.

The sound of boots clattering down the hall grew nearer. It was now or never. Jules pushed herself up with surprising grace, her feet silent on the cold concrete floor. She took a breath, her smirk already tugging at the corner of her lips. She stood tall, confident, and with a swift, sharp whistle, she broke the silence.

"Hello, boys," Jules said, her voice smooth and dripping with sarcasm as she turned to face the two guards walking past, clearly caught off-guard. The taller one, a bit slower to react, blinked in surprise before his eyes widened with recognition.

"It's the girl!" one of the guards yelled, as if that would somehow explain the sudden appearance of a stranger in their path.

But Jules wasn't listening. Her eyes narrowed, and with a fluid motion, she cracked her neck, preparing for what was about to happen. Her muscles tensed, and she launched herself forward, faster than any of them could react. The sound of her movement was like a gust of wind before her arm swung with brutal precision, sending the first guard crashing into the wall with a sickening thud. Before the other could even reach for his radio, she had him by the collar, lifting him off the ground and throwing him into the opposite wall. He crumpled to the floor, knocked unconscious in a heap.

Jules stood over them, her chest rising and falling with the exertion. She flicked her wrist as if shaking off any remaining tension. "Okay, clear. Let's go," she said, turning to the others, her voice as casual as if she'd just taken out a couple of annoying pests.

But Erica and Robin were still frozen, staring at her with wide eyes, trying to process what had just happened. They'd seen Jules fight before, sure, but that? That was something else entirely. Powers. It was undeniable now.
