Down in an alley, an intense duel was commencing.
Nistro: Slam him, Hammer Bounzer! Take that duelist down!
His monster attacks with its hammer hands and sends the duelist falling to the ground.
Nistro: Get up! I'm not finished with you yet!
Duelist: I'll never cheat in a duel again Nistro! I learned my lesson. Please, let me go!
Nistro: Not till you pay, punk. In full.
Dextra: That's enough Nistro, back off. Don't forget about our real mission which is to track down Number cards.
Nistro: You're getting off easy this time. But don't let me see your face in Heartland City! The duelists runs off. Pathetic slime.
Elsewhere, a certain diminutive duelist was sleeping on a tree branch. Soon enough, he falls out of the tree and crashes to the ground.
Flip: Hey, the tournament! Oh man. Last thing I remember I was checking out the opening ceremonies of the duel carnival with yuma and the gang. I wanted to find a spot where I could hide. Then I could spy on the other duelists to get an edge in my matches! But instead of dueling, I've just been dozing! I'll have to bust a move if I wanna win all the heart pieces I need to make the finals! Then again, I'm starting really late. A lot of the weaker duelists have probably dropped out. Which means there's more chance of me losing! It's gonna be much harder to collect pieces now. I'll never win this thing. Unless I can pull a flip-flop!
Elsewhere....
Yuma: Oh yeah! I have four heart pieces so far!
Tori A few more and you'll advance to the finals!
Yuma: Astral, look! Yuma looks around and sees that Astral is nowhere to be seen.
Tori: What's wrong?
Yuma: Astral isn't around.
Tori: But isn't he always nearby?
Anna: Isn't he that weird friend that only you and Yuma can see?
Kai: Mmhm. That's super weird that he's not here. And it's not just him. Cologne isn't here either.
Yuma: Oh well. It might be a nice change to have a duel without his commentary track.
Kai: I just hope those two are okay.
Inside the Golden Key, Astral and Cologne looked at all the Numbers Yuma and Kai have collected.
Astral: These Numbers are fragments of my memories. And with the help of Yuma and Kai, I have been fortunate to regain many of them. Yet I still am uncertain of so much.
Cologne: We're you able to figure anything out? Like why you're here?
Astral: I'm afraid not.
Cologne: Hmm. These Numbers, they get more mysterious by the day.
Back out in the real world, a young man was looking around frantically.
Spencer: Where is that snake? He's gotta be hiding someplace!
Kai: Hey, guys look. Kai points to the boy.
Yuma: Spencer! What are you up to?
Spencer: I'm lookin' for someone! Have you guys seen Flip?
Kai: Nope.
Spencer: He ripped me off.
Flashback...
Flip: Hey, Spencer, I know you're gonna rule this Duel Carnival!
Spencer: Yep, those other duelists better watch out!
