Chapter 9: A Test of Patience

Nami has been in a bad mood lately. Even Soo-jin has noticed and has toned down her obnoxious habits a bit, thankfully.

Today, Soo-jin is out of the shower in less than half an hour, which is probably a new record for her.

"Nami unnie, you can use the shower now. The water is still hot." Soo-jin towels her hair proudly.

"Mmkay," Nami keeps scrolling through her phone without looking at Soo-jin,

"Gomawo, Soo-Jin."

Soo-jin nods wordlessly, and goes to her room to begin her post-shower hair treatments, but I can tell she's irritated at Nami's lack of appreciation.

I wonder how long Soo-jin will be able to keep her annoyance at Nami's cold attitude suppressed.

Nami looks exhausted, despite the fact that she was already asleep when I got back to the dorm last night at 9 pm. Her golden blond hair is dull and messier than I've ever seen it- which is not really that messy at all, actually, if you look at mine.

The coffee brewer clicks, signaling that the coffee is ready, and I go to pour all three of us each a cup. I drop one sugar cube in Nami's cup, two in Soo-jin's and four in mine.

"Here." I set down Nami's coffee, still steaming, on the table in front of her.

"One cube?" Her voice is softer now than when she spoke to Soo-jin.

"One cube. No milk."

"Gomawo, Mi-young. You'd better get ready to head to JYP soon too, don't be late." Nami shuts off her phone and looks up at me.

"Sorry I've been so cold to you and Soo-jin lately," she sighs,

"I've just been very busy and tired lately. Please apologize to Soo-jin for me when you give her the coffee. I'm going to be at LOEN headquarters today to work on that new song."

"No problem." I smile a little, glad that Nami is at least explaining her behavior.

Nami has been pretty stressed lately since she's collaborating with the famous IU on a single in IU's new album, but I still feel myself puff up my chest a little in pride knowing that my unnie is working with the one and only IU.

"But is that really all there is to it? Just busy and tired? You wouldn't have had a fight with JB or anything?"

Nami almost spits out her coffee. Wiping her mouth with a napkin, her hazel eyes are unreadable as she asks in a slighty shaken tone,

"Aniya! What makes you think that?"

"The fact that you get 9 hours of sleep a day." I laugh, and she manages a weak smile.

"Touche."

"But seriously," I straighten my lips into a line,

"Nami unnie, tell me if it's really just the annoying MC from last week's radio show or a lover's spat."

Nami sighs and sets down her cup of coffee. "It's not a lover's spat."

Omo!

I raise my eyebrows- so it was a lover's spat.

"It's just that JB and I have just been a bit frustrated because we haven't been able to see each other lately. He thinks I'm not making enough of an effort to be together, but I'm trying."

"Jinjjyayo? Are you sure?" I blurt before I can stop myself.
