He was driving, his hands steady on the wheel, his face void of any expression. Meanwhile, I sat by the window, my gaze lost in the passing scenery. Life sure has a cruel sense of humor, doesn't it? Playing with me like I'm its favorite toy. Not a single word had passed between us since that scene. This jerk-seriously, did he escape from a mental hospital? Because he's definitely taking my peace with him.
Minutes later, the car came to a smooth stop. Without a glance his way, I rolled down the window and opened the door. My steps were quick as I stepped out, heading straight to the trunk. I didn't wait for him-I didn't need to. Pulling out my bags, the ones I bought for myself with my own will, I turned on my heel and headed towards the mansion.
I could feel his gaze-those dark, piercing eyes boring into my back like a silent challenge.
"You want me to obey you, Jungkook?" I muttered under my breath. "Well, guess what? fuck you"
My feet carried me quickly through the grand entrance, and the moment I reached my room, I slammed the door shut. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding, leaning against the door for a second. "Well I'm Hella tired now," I whispered to myself, shaking my head.
The bag slipped from my hand onto the couch as I sank onto the edge of the bed, exhaustion pressing down on me like a heavy weight. My head fell into my hands as a bitter laugh escaped me.
"Aish... what is even happening to my life?" I murmured to the empty room.
.
"Betrayal, hurt, lies... this so-called marriage..."
.
My hand moved instinctively to my stomach. My heart ached, but not for myself. For the life growing inside me.
"This is for you," I said softly, my voice trembling. "You're the only reason I'm holding on. I promise, no matter what, I won't let you suffer like I did."
"I just need time... time to make him believe I've given up. I'll do whatever it takes, but I'll protect you." I managed a small, shaky smile. "It's you and me,"
"My child," I whispered, a faint smile tugged at my lips as I blinked back the tears.
"It's you and me against the world."
Minutes passed, the silence wrapping around me like a heavy blanket. I was still lost in my thoughts when a knock broke through the stillness.
I froze, my heart skipping a beat. There was no voice, no follow-up-just the knock. Irritation flared in my chest as I stood abruptly. Who had the nerve now?
I swung the door open, ready to lash out.
But no one was there.
There was no one.
The hallway stood empty, silent, as if no one had ever been there.
My brows furrowed as I glanced down-and that's when I saw it. The bag.
The same bag I had left in the car.
My lips curled in irritation. So he dropped it here? How desperate. How considerate. How... useless.
I scoffed under my breath, bending slightly to pick it up. My fingers clenched the handle as I stood back up, casting one last glance around. Nothing but the dim lights and the cold silence.
Whatever.
I stepped back inside my room, shutting the door behind me with a dull thud.
"Selfish man," I muttered, dropping the bag onto the table with a careless thump. "Always wanting things his way. Taking me to a party? Without my consent? Without even asking? Like my opinion doesn't even matter."
