Chapter 8 - Aftermath

UHHHHH sorry for taking so long I lost motivation :/ I’ve been writing a bit less passionately but this time I tried to use more details and stuf hope u like it!!!
Suddenly the freakishly loud background noises stopped, back in the lobby he could hear Poob panting. After a few moments he felt both of their arms wrap around him and he was lifted off the ground. He could only muster up the energy to growl slightly. Poob carried them out of the building and to the place where they agreed to meet if this were to happen. They set him down on the wooden bench and they sat next to each other while trying to catch their breath. Poob looked over at Pest who had their head in their hands and their eyes shut tight. Their hair was incredibly rough and tangly, even more so than usual. He practically ripped the gloves apart to free himself from any uncomfortable stimuli. His head was pounding, a pulsating headache overpowering any thoughts. Every gust of wind that touched him felt like needles gliding across his skin. Not a single sound would process, it was all just painful white noise.
Poob noticed his breathing beginning to slow, his breaths became deeper and more relaxed, his eyes were slightly open, staring at his hands. He took out his earplugs, and the sounds of cars passing by wasn’t so unbearable. The night was dark and the streetlights were bright, but he didn’t care anymore. Instead of the wind pricking his skin, it felt like a comforting chill breeze.
“Pest r u ok?” Poob asked quietly, trying to keep their voice down so as to not bother them. Pest only chittered in response to recognize that they heard them. “No talkin?” Still only silence followed. “Do u wanna go bak hom?” Pest glanced over at them and stood up. Poob silently followed him to the car. When the engine started the radio loudly blasted, hurting Pest’s ears and causing him to screech in pain. Poob panicked and turned off the radio quickly, “Im so sry Pest!! <X[“ Pest dramatically huffed and looked out of the window, his ears recovering from the sound. “Is ok we wil be hom soon!” Poob let out a weak smile even if Pest didn’t turn to look at them. Pest leaned his head against the window, the sound of the road meeting the wheels of the car thumping in his head. The window was cold yet refreshing like air conditioning during a hot day. Pest could finally rest just a little bit before he gets home, he slowly closed his eyes and dozed off.
He felt a soft hand on his shoulder, “waek up we here :]” Poob whispered as quietly as they could. Pest growled in response and inched away from them. Pest heard the door beside him open and then close, giving Pest a minute alone. He sat up and took off his hat, he combed through his hair with his fingers and yawned. After taking a deep breath, he opened the door and walked into the house. The TV was off and Poob’s bedroom door was closed.
On the other side of the door Poob changed into his star-patterned pajamas and turned on his Space-themed night light. The patterns projected onto the ceiling, stars in all different shapes and sizes changing color slowly. They laid in their bed and took off their party hat, but suddenly their bedroom door opened. “Pest?? O.o” They sat up to see a very sleepy Pest standing in the doorway, slouched over with dark eyebags. “Pesttt! this is my rom sily! XD” Pest just walked closer to where Poob was laying and laid on Poob’s chest. “Wha- O///O” Pest quickly started to purr quietly, Poob smiled, hardly controlling their intense happiness. Poob reached out and pet Pest’s head, stroking his hair. Their arms tightened around Pest and they took off his hat for him and set it on the nightstand. “I luv u sm Pest..” Poob whispered quietly, Pest could feel and hear Poob’s heart beating heavier and faster.
Pest chittered and hesitantly responded, “I..I love you too.” His face heated up, he didn’t need to open his eyes to know Poob’s reaction. “Shut up.” Bitches went night night mf
