"Kill it" another tone or voice. Nicolette scooted away from Douglass as he seemed to be arguing with himself. "Fix it" a deeper tone now came from him as he paced. A few more words were mumbled, but Nicolette was trying to get away as quietly as she could. Tears streaked down her cheeks, she fought the sob caught in her throat. Why would anyone make her relive that? Her legs trembled beneath her as she crept along the fence.

Douglass turned his gaze on her, composure returning. He was far too old to be so affected by a mortal, even if it had powers his were stronger. "Stop. Get in the car Nicolette." he commanded, and with a pause in her retreat she offered a nod and walked toward the car. He opened the front passenger door for her. "Sleep" he demanded when she sat down, and she slumped into a deep slumber. He took another calming breath, glanced around, and got into the car. It would be a long drive to return to Sarasota.

Nicolette woke in darkness, in a cage, alone or so she assumed. It was so dark she couldn't see her hand in front of her face. She stood slowly, running her hands along the bars of the cage trying to determine her surroundings. She knew she could see if she really wanted to, she had made fire before, but it had always been when she was in danger or very angry. She wasn't sure she could just do it here, and what if she burned the place down, she was in a cage, would she burn herself down too?

She frowned leaning against the cage, a light sigh escaping her. "You're too calm for someone waking in a cage." a gruff voice spoke from somewhere in the darkness. She couldn't help but flinch realizing she wasn't alone. How could he see her, night goggles maybe? She tilted her head trying to determine where the voice was coming from. Something brushed along her hair causing her to jerk away from the bars into the middle of the cage.

He could hear her heart racing as he paced around the cage. She was too pretty for his taste. His nails would brush the cage causing her to flinch and sometimes turn toward the noise. "Why? Why are you here?" She bit her lip but didn't respond. He narrowed his eyes, not liking being ignored. He reached through the bars, unable to reach he pushed bending them inward toward her. She leaned back away from the noise only to have him speed to the other side and grab her hair pulling her closer to the bars.

Nicolette couldn't help the slight squeal as her head hit the bars, being pulled hard by her hair. Her hand reaching up to try and free herself. She gasped at the texture of the skin that touched her. That was not a normal hand. This caused her to fight harder to escape his grip. She turned so she wasn't leaning against the bars but was facing more toward him.

She brought her hands down in front of herself and focused on making the fire. Vampires were afraid of fire right? As the temperature increased in her he relaxed his grip a little, raising a brow, well technically he didn't have a brow. Fire erupted in her palms blinding both of them for a moment. But it was enough he released her hair and she stumbled back from him. Her eyes focusing on the creature that stood before her. What the hell are you, she thought.

He was what you would expect a vampire to look like. Elongated ears and fangs, his face scarred and frightening. He couldn't help the hiss that escaped his lips as he stumbled back away from the cage. "witch" he whispered. "interesting, very interesting." He grinned, at least she thought that was a grin. She could barely keep looking at him, but feared looking away. He took a few steps back into the darkness and disappeared.

Nicolette moved more toward the middle of the cage again, turning slowly looking around her cage for him. Letting the fire grow in strength slightly so she could take in her surroundings. She was obviously underground somewhere, there was no windows in this room and it felt damp. She tried to smell the air for any clues as to where she was, but it didn't smell like anything except maybe mold. She sat down again in the middle and kept her light for a while. When she felt it draining her she slowly let it fade into nothing.
