Robert parked the car and turned to Nic. "Stay close to me, but behind me. If things go bad get out of the way. I am not a babysitter and will not be focused on your safety. I do not want to explain your death to Madeline, but I will if you do something stupid."
Then without waiting on a response he got out of the truck. Nic sighed but followed, sliding from the truck. She heard it lock just after the door closed and she hurried to catch up with him. They turned down an alley, coming in a side door. The music hit her like a wall, dim lighting and strobe lights, great. She hated strobe lights, they're basically an ugly guys chance at picking up a pretty girl because she can't see him clearly. Robert moved through the crowd as they parted naturally for him, they seemed to sense the power in him and simply moved. She followed in his wake, amazed at how the crowd rejoined after he passed.
They walked past the bar into a back room. VIP area maybe? She wasn't sure because she couldn't see where she was going with the stupid lights, but as they entered this area the strobe lights were gone and it was just very dark. Mood lighting, definitely the VIP area. She moved more to his side so she could take the place in. There were tables set up as they first walked in, girls wearing very little walking around with shots, there was a dance floor and a cage above it with a girl dancing. She noticed someone dart off the dance floor just before Robert started running. Crap she thought and hurried behind him.
Robert grabbed a glass off a table as they were passing just before going out a side door after the guy. He took two steps outside the door before throwing it at the man fleeing. The glass flew so fast and hard that it lodged into the guys shoulder and sent him tumbling over. Nic blinked catching the last moment of it. She glanced around as she closed the door, her ears were thumping and she could hardly hear anything more than her own breathing.
They were all alone in this back walkway, she pushed the door closed and leaned against it just as a shadow arms formed around the man. She tried to focus on him, but he backed into the shadow pulling the glass from his shoulder and throwing it against the wall. All she could see was his apparent height of 6'2, she knew he had dark possibly black hair from when he was running.
Robert glanced around as he approached the Lasombra. The shadow grew just as Robert began to run at the man disappearing inside the shroud. Before Nic could back she was engulfed. It was pure darkness, but worse. It felt as if the darkness was alive and pure evil surrounding her. She fought to breathe even though it wasn't drowning her airways. She called out to Robert, but didn't hear herself speak. Panic set in and she brought her hands up before herself focusing her powers and fire formed between her hands. She separated it into both hands and moved away from the wall. Although she was no longer touched by the shroud she was still surrounded.
She felt movement to her right and launched a fireball at it, praying that wasn't Robert. She thought she heard a shriek. She turned toward where she thought the sound was replacing the missing fireball just before a tentacle swept out of the darkness hitting her at her waist sending her flying down the alley. She tucked and rolled with it, but couldn't help the fireballs that flew away from her first, coming up outside of the shroud. Grumbling as she pushed up to her feet she stepped back to take in the shroud. Was she really going to walk back into that? Or wasn't her directions to stay back out of the way? But while we are on that train of thought, how is this helping the Masquerade? Her focus was on the shroud, her ears still pounding from the club caused her to miss the man standing against the wall.
He smirked pushing off of the wall. "You don't belong here."his voice muffled to her ears, but it caused her to turn. An audible gasp escaping her lips. Why were all vampires gorgeous? Ok maybe not all of them were gorgeous, but this one was jaw dropping gorgeous. But her natural instincts felt danger and fire erupted before her again and she launched it at him before she knew what she was doing. His piercing blue eyes never left her as he calmly lifted his hand catching the fireball and extinguished it against the wall.
