The fire crackled softly in the hearth, sending flickering golden light across the wooden walls of their home. The warmth of the room was comforting, a stark contrast to the biting cold outside. Taehyung lay curled on the bed, his belly round with their unborn twins, his fingers absentmindedly tracing over the stretched skin as he hummed softly.

Jungkook, seated beside him, watched with a fond smile. His mate had always been beautiful, but like this—pregnant with their pups, glowing under the fire’s warmth—he was breathtaking.

The pups had fallen asleep long ago, tired from playing with their grandfather all day. Not a day was dull with their continuous laughter of joy.

“You’re staring again,” Taehyung murmured, tilting his head playfully as he met Jungkook’s eyes.

Jungkook sighed deeply, “I can’t help it,” he admitted, brushing a few strands of hair from Taehyung’s face. “You look…” He sighed again, as if searching for the right word. “Like home.”

Taehyung’s lips curled into a smile, but a flicker of something passed through his eyes. Jungkook frowned.

“What’s wrong, sweetie?”

Taehyung hesitated before shaking his head. “Nothing, Alpha. Just… I feel uneasy tonight.”

Jungkook stiffened slightly. He had been feeling it too—an unshakable sense of something lurking beyond the trees, watching. His instincts as an Alpha had been on edge for days now.

“I won’t let anything happen,” he assured him, resting his palm over Taehyung’s stomach. “To you or to them, sweetie.”

Taehyung nodded with a small smile but his fingers trembled slightly when they curled around Jungkook’s wrist. “I trust you, Alpha."

Jungkook smiled, though the bugging of something unknown was bothering him.

A moment of silence passed between them before Jungkook leaned down, pressing a kiss against his mate’s forehead. “Sleep,” he whispered. “I’ll be right here.”

As Taehyung drifted off, Jungkook remained awake, listening.

And the forest whispered back: the presence of something uncanny.

At midnight, Taehyung stirred in his sleep, an odd weight pressing against his chest. His breathing was uneven, and the warmth that usually surrounded him was gone. The fire had dimmed to mere embers, and a strange chill hung in the air.

A whisper brushed against his ear.

"Come to me."

His eyes fluttered open.

The house was eerily quiet. And Jungkook was no longer beside him.

Blinking through the drowsiness, Taehyung sat up slowly, pressing a hand to his belly as his pups kicked lightly. His eyes searched for Jungkook and found the True Blood Alpha on the chair across the bed, sleeping.

Water. He needed water.

He padded toward the door, careful not to make too much noise. But the moment he stepped outside the room, the cold breeze hit him like a wall. The air was thick, heavy with something unnatural.

Then, he heard it again.

"Come to me, little Omega."

A shiver ran down his spine.
