Lovino felt as though he made a mistake, he never went out with people he didn't know, he wouldn't even define a relationship until at least two months into seeing that person. He tried making up excuses as to why it was okay this time, he decided that since other people go out with people they've barely met, then he could do it too.
Lovino thought he was ready until his mind began to produce reasons to freak out. He tried to tell himself to not be so neurotic, but his mind was racing. He didn't know anything about Al, he didn't know what to wear, he didn't know anything.
Lovi watched Alfred walk into the guest bedroom and followed him in to clear things up. He couldn't stand the mystery, it had been less than two minutes and his thoughts were eating him alive. He counted the doors, 3rd one on the right, and knocked. When he heard a quiet reply, he let himself in.
"A-Alfred?" Lovino stuttered walking into the neatly made room.
"Yeah bro?" Al replied, not looking up from his phone.
"Um, I was wondering-" Lovi was cut off,
"Wow! You just couldn't stay away, huh?" He paused a moment, admiring himself, then contiued rambling, " Yup, I have that effect on people. I mean, look at me. I'm gorgeous!"
Lovino felt his cheeks heat up, and a smile tug at his lips, but he quickly replaced it with his normal frown, he reminded himself of the reputation he needed to uphold.
"Hey! Don't interrupt me!" Lovi sat next to Al on the bed and lightly hit his arm. "Anyways, I was just wondering where you were going to take me, when we were going to go out, and what I should wear."
Alfred flashed a wide smile at Lovino, he wasn't bothered by the gesture, he just wanted to know why.
"No dude, I'm not going to tell you where we're going, it's a surprise!" He wrapped one arm around Lovino's shoulders, bringing him. He instantly shook Al's arm off and scooted away, ending up further away from him than when he had first sat down.
"But, I'm taking you out tomorrow. I'm bringing you to my favourite restaurant so dress casual, okay?"
The shorter boy nodded and went to leave the room, turning the lights out when he left, but before he could get out the door, he felt Alfred tugging at his sleeve.
"Oh hey dude," Al said nervously, "um, do you mind maybe not turning off the lights? not that I'm scared or anything, but Tony, my cool alien friend, might want to visit so we should just keep the lights on."
Lovi clapped his hands over his mouth and thought, "Alfred is afraid of the dark"
He began laughing uncontrollably at the discovery. "Y-you're afraid of the dark! Ha!"
Lovi switched the lights back on and saw Al curled up into a ball on the floor, squeezing his eyes shut. He crouched down next to him and shook his shoulder. He opened his eyes, adjusted his glasses, and sat up, leaning against the wall.
"Sorry, but the Alfred, afraid of the dark? You just don't strike me as the type of person that has such a frivolous phobia."
"Well, I am, and I always have been.. I don't know why, I just-"
"It's fine, don't feel bad.." He sat next to the American boy, grabbing one of his hands and letting their fingers intertwine.
He didn't mean to, it just happened.
Alfred rested his head on the shorter boy's shoulder and Lovino's head on his.
"Don't feel bad, I'm afraid of roller coasters.."
"Yeah, but other people your age are scared of those.. I don't know any other 19 year olds who are still afraid of the dark..! I don't know.. It's embarrassing.."
"Please, Feliciano was scared of the dark until he met that German Bastard! You aren't the only one with this fear. But, I'm now determined to help you get over this.. Come on, just lay down and I'll turn the lights out, I'll stay until you drift off, and when you go to sleep, I'll go to my room."
Alfred removed his head from my chest and looked at Lovino.
Blue met Hazel.
At that moment, everything fell into place, Lovino didn't know it yet, but Alfred did.
Alfred F. Jones decided in that one moment that he was going to marry Lovino Vargas. He was going to win him over, he was really going to try to get this one. He was going to keep this one. This was one wish and he was going to make it come true.
Al slowly nodded and leaned in.
Lovino wasn't sure what was going to happen, but he tilted his head and leaned in towards Alfred.
They could feel their breath on each other's lips, they were so close, but not close enough for Lovi.
Lovino closed the gap between the two.
Alfred pressed into Lovino, creating more sparks as the length of the kiss grew.
They both stayed as long as they could until their lungs were begging for air.
They sat there in silence for a while, not an awkward silence, but a comfortable silence and Alfred was the first to break it.
"L-Lovino.. would you like to go out with me sometime?"
"What? You already asked me out and I said yes. Remember, bastard?"
"Well I meant on a real date, not one I forced upon you.."
"First of all, you didn't force anything on me.. I agreed to it! And Second.. um.. yes.. I'll go on a date with you.. or whatever."
Alfred was so excited he, without thinking, wrapped his arms around Lovino and pulled him into a hug.
Lovino secretly loved every second of that hug, but he quickly pushed the American off of him.
"Get off me, asshole! Or I wont go out with you!"
Alfred slowly let go of Lovi. He dropped his hands down to the floor where Lovino's laid.
Alfred rested his head on the Italian's shoulder. Al, in a low whisper, asked, "You're not going to leave me... are you..?"
And in an uncharacteristic reply, Lovino whispered sweetly, "No.. No, Alfred.. I'm right here for you. I will always be here for you."
