sienna could still feel the ghost of matt's lips on her skin.

well, not quite her lips, but close enough to leave her breathless.

she had barely slept, tossing and turning until the early hours of the morning, her mind a relentless loop of what had almost happened—the way matt had looked at her, the way his breath had mingled with hers, the way his fingers had traced slow, deliberate patterns against her wrist.

and the way, at the very last second, instead of closing the distance between them, he had turned his head just enough that his lips brushed against the curve of her cheek.

soft. warm. deliberate.

close enough to make her shiver.

like he had felt her heart stutter in her chest, had seen the way her fingers curled slightly in the fabric of his hoodie, had known that if he had just tilted his head an inch more, she wouldn't have stopped him.

but he hadn't.

he had waited until her breath caught, until her lips parted just slightly in anticipation—only to pull away at the last second, leaving her reeling in his absence.

then, with that maddening smirk still lingering on his lips, he had whispered against her skin—so quietly it was almost a sigh—

"not yet, cinnamon."
