IRL .

the air between them was thick—charged, electric, humming with something raw and teetering on the edge of breaking.

it clung to sienna's skin, heavy, suffocating, like the moment itself had hands wrapped around her ribs, squeezing, waiting, daring her to take the next breath.

matt's fingers were still tangled with hers, warm and steady, but Sienna could feel his pulse hammering just as wildly as hers. could feel the tension coiling through his body, his grip tightening just slightly, like he was barely holding himself together.

like he was terrified of what would happen if he let go.

the space between them had never felt so small. yet, somehow, it was an ocean.

sienna swallowed hard, her breath uneven. she inhaled, trying to steady herself, trying to slow the frantic beating of her heart, but it was impossible. not when matt was looking at her like that.

like he didn't dare to blink. like she was something holy. like he wanted to carve this moment into the universe itself, stitch it into the stars, make it last forever.

his thumb brushed absentminded circles against her palm, soft, reverent, but sienna felt it everywhere. the touch, the warmth, the undeniable weight of something unspoken stretching thick between them.

and god, she wanted him to say it.

she wanted to say it.

but her voice had abandoned her.

so instead, she just looked at him—really looked at him. the sharp angles of his jaw, the way his throat bobbed when he swallowed, the flicker of uncertainty in his stormy blue eyes, battling against something deeper. something desperate.
