Dhruv stepped out of the hospital his thoughts a tangled mess pressing down on him like a weight he couldn't shake off. The evening night air wrapped around him, but he barely registered it. His mind was elsewhere lost in the storm raging inside him.

The moment Dhruv's foot touched the pavement, the sky let out a deep warning rumble. Within moments, the first drops of rain fell quickly turning into a relentless downpour. Cold water soaked him completely, his clothes clinging to his skin but he didn't move. He didn't even flinch. He simply stood there, letting the storm wash over him.

He closed his eyes, surrendering to the rain as it poured down seeping into his skin like a silent punishment or perhaps a strange kind of comfort. He wasn't sure. All he knew was the hollowness pressing against his chest, the weight of words he never got to say echoing in the silence between each thunderclap.

He slowly opened his eyes, his gaze landing on a group of kids playing in the rain their laughter ringing through the air as they danced and splashed in the puddles. For a moment he just watched them, something about their carefree joy tugging at him. And then, all of a sudden he remembered something! a memory of that day!! the day when he first saw her.

It was when he had just received his posting in Delhi and was in the middle of shifting. The city had felt unfamiliar, the streets crowded and restless, the air heavy with the scent of wet earth and gasoline. And above it all the sky had opened up, rain pouring down just as it did now soaking everything in sight.

That day it had been raining just like this..

Flashback

Six years ago

Dhruv muttered a curse under his breath as the first raindrops landed on his skin, cold and unwelcome. The sky grew darker with each passing second, the air thick with the scent of rain and damp earth. His grip on the cardboard box tightened as he quickened his pace toward the building entrance, hoping to escape the downpour.

He had just been posted to Delhi and was in the process of moving into his new place. The box in his hands held his essentials and the last thing he needed was for the rain to ruin his stuff.

But just as he picked up his pace he saw her!

A girl was walking toward him her hair tied in a loose ponytail though a few damp strands had slipped free clinging to her face. She wore a blue frock, the fabric brushing against her knees as she moved. Her cheeks were flushed from running, and Yet she had the most beautiful smile one so radiant, so effortlessly charming that it felt like it had the power to destroy him completely, to shatter every wall he didn't even know he had built.

For some reason, Dhruv couldn't look away. He froze completely caught off guard, as if the world had paused for a brief second just for this moment.

And that girl she was none other than Manvi.

But Dhruv didn't know who she was and she knew nothing about him either. After all, today was his first day in Delhi. But in that brief moment, something about her made the world slow down. It was as if time had paused, holding him there caught in a feeling he couldn't name. She was just a stranger yet for some reason he couldn't look away.
